"The preliminary investigation found that a semitrailer truck driven by Crawford rear-ended another vehicle east of the interchange. The semi then continued driving westbound for more than a mile and struck several other passenger vehicles west of the 27th Street interchange."

    Condolences to family, friends, colleagues.

Yorkwind Crawford, 50, of North Miami Beach, was booked into the Lancaster County Jail.
    That's a strange name; "Yorkwind"

I sold my motorcycle in July because of too many close-calls this season. I have owned bikes for over 20 years, and it is shocking how careless other drivers have become this year.
The day that i sold my bike, a nearby neighbor got hit on his bike right in front of our hospital. He had to have one leg amputated, and now the foot on his other leg may have to be amputated. A week ago, my sister-in-laws’ neighbor got killed on his bike by another careless driver.
In April, my wife was driving my F250 Super Duty, she was stopped on the highway to turn onto our road. A woman in her twenties rear ended my pickup. She told the deputy that she was not paying attention, and hit my pickup while driving ‘at least 65mph’! She was driving a Volkswagen Bug. I am amazed that she survived AND was able to speak to the deputy at all! My wife has back injuries, but is ok otherwise.
I have witnessed several other serious incidents/accidents (locally) this summer that all point to an absolute lack of respect for others.

Ouch, hoping it is medical for the driver to have reacted so poorly

I'm not going to even read about it. While it's tragic, I want to say, it represents a miniscule % of our drivers out there, who in my book, still do an outstanding job, and a tip of the hat to all of you. This?^^^ Rear enders have become the norm. I pass a body shop on my bike rides and there are new casualties DAILY, and 95% are all front end repair( or rear from being hit) All I can say, is today, with distracted driving in ALL vehicles, is the #1 killer on our highways, and we have to be more diligent than ever in thinking the next driver coming up may be distracted, and I wouldn't turn my back for a second. RIP, folks, I guess it was your turn to go. As for the driver of the truck, send them to one of those urine soaked hell holes in Peru, perhaps that may be a deterrent for others.

I pass or am passed multiple times a day by other truck drivers who are holding their cell phone staring straight down at it, no care in the world. Literally on average I see this 3-4 times daily. Auto drivers? Forget about it, it’s like 50% or more of every driver that I can see down into their car is holding their cell phone. But us professional drivers, that’s a huge no-no.

Hell I’ve even seen drivers with their cruise control set, feet up on the dash and cell phone in their hand leaned back in their seat. Like they’re sitting in their living room watching a movie. Flying by me doing 75 mph.
