Anyone use loves recaps and what's your experience with them.
They say "nationwide warranty" how does it work if you have blowout 200 mile from nearest truck stop, not even talking about loves
Loves recaps

I bought 2 loves recaps last year. I have them on my front right drive axle. After 25-30k miles they are still in good shape to be honest. I'd still prefer virgin tires as they last longer but I've had no issue with them flattening or shredding in the extreme heat I drove in this summer. Sometimes over 100°F.

It's a crap shoot. I've had some that lasted and then I blew one in Florida once. The actual recap came off the casing. The lifetime warranty is most beneficial if you blow it and can limp it to a Love's. If they have to come out to you, it's not as beneficial of course, as the road call fees can be killer.
TallJoe Thanks this. -
As company driver, I was on recaps all the time. The were blowing off all the time...Since I went on my own, I've always used virgins and none of that happened again. Of curse, punctures do happen but none of those explosions. I would even go as far as to say that recaps are public safety issue and should be banned. Except, maybe for some off road farm use or oil fields driving.

When you were a company driver running caps how often did you check the pressure? Low pressure is what kills a cap and properly maintained they’re not a public safety issue. The flatbed job I had unless it was the steer axle or a lift axle it had recaps on it. So 20 recaps per truck and in ten years I blew 2 tires, both virgins on the rear lift axle of the trailer. We did have a tire guy at our shop so every weekend the pressures got checked and the tires given a once over.

I only blew 1 recap working as company driver. Another set of recaps lasted 190k on spread axle trailer and owner still has same recaps on his trailer

Before you buy any recap get a flashlight and look at side wall of tire for the year it was made its on there in the week and year it was made the newer the better, if you see a triangle on side of it that means it has repair in it some where do not take that tire, When I started for a 2ed time I had every tire on truck with a side wall repair and bob tail it shook like the devil, look inside of all tires they are trying to sell you and look for patches that means the tire has been run flat and no good to you, mark the ones you pick out as the best you find?

Diesel Dave and Cat sdp Thank this. -
I used to run recaps on my spread axle belly dump. Those tires took a beating and I never had an issue.
As long fld said checking tire pressure is key for long life. With recaps or virginsmitmaks Thanks this. -
I’ve seen some on a rack in front of one of their shops with missing pieces of tread that had “warranty” stickers on them. Looked almost new besides that
bzinger Thanks this.
