I just found my Dads old Made in the Philippines Cobra. It hasn’t worked in 30+ years. I have a 29 in the Truck. Brand new in the box, Bought over 12 yrs ago for $59. And a chrome Astatic. Think I’ll hook it up. Haven’t really missed having a CB, for last 12 yrs..God safety tool though.

This website has a forum dedicated to the CB radio. You can probably learn a lot of good info there. The CB radio isn't perfect, but it's still a good tool. Especially if the weather turns bad, it's helpful to turn it on. You can run with the CB on and if you are approaching traffic slow downs/wrecks, often times a helpful driver will call it out and let you know to start slowing down/backing it up. Often times you'll hear something like I80 westbound you are backing up at mile marker <whatever>. Something like that. The lingo is a bit different, but you'll get the idea. You'll know what they are saying.feldsforever, SoulScream84, Brettj3876 and 2 others Thank this.

Most modern trucks have CB hook ups depending on your company, just get a Cobra 29 Lx, good unit and if you happens to have some free time around Walcott, Iowa stop at the Walcott CB they do good tunes and can help you get the best out of the radio and antenna set up.
feldsforever and dave01282000 Thank this. -
I'm looking for a good mid priced mirror mount antenna for a cobra 29.
The truck antenna just sucks. -
I like the Francis Fire Stick 4’. Works great with my Cobra 29.feldsforever and Brettj3876 Thank this.

Most trucks are equipped with antennae and power posts for radio, this prevents drivers from hacking up trucks wiring doing their own less than stellar installs.

Yup.....butt connectors and vinyl electrical tape do wonders for wiring harnesses.feldsforever Thanks this.

Yeah, this one does to. But it literally has a 3/ths range. At first I thought it was my radio. But this is a new radio.

My employer bought new Macks and antennae/coax don't work worth a pinch since day one. I don't drive them but the guys who do are installing their own equipment.
Ive removed mounts on Cascadias,,cleaned them up with penetrating oil which made huge improvement on the ground side.
Currently have Coronada with factory coax,,,replaced antennas with 3' Firesticks after the 5' antennae snapped off...it happens. Getting the mirror cover off is fun stuff,,,make sure none of the 4 retaining clips break
