    Both times and tech change…

while I can still read a map/atlas (I think) and I do carry one in my cab (somewhere) … and do have my CB on each and every mile, I’m very thankful for the ease of GPS and accessibility of mobile data.

CBs are handy for sure, at times, but not as useful as they once were as fewer and fewer use them and so much information is available on one’s iPhone or iPad. A simple satellite view tells you where to go and how to get in and out of a shipper or receiver.

Besides, ones tech doesn’t make you a better driver just like ones golf clubs or rod n reel make you a better golfer/angler.

times and tech change… in some ways for the better and in some ways not… we adjust.

I you have it set on shortest distance and not fastest route, it will do this silly stuff.

My Garmin cannot be beat, but every once in a while I wonder if Harriet Tubman did the routing lol

Only thing I hate with Garmin and all the models do it, is want to bypass as exit you are supposed to take, take the next exit and come back to it. For some reason there’s a bunch of overpasses that are under rated to 5 ton instead of 50 ton or something like that.

So I sent a email to Garmin mentioning these and other issues. Their reply was to send -every- error and they would put them out in the next update. I then made a copy of their incorrect data dump for bridges and requested they verify their code and information within their program. I'm sure they next person I hear from will be their attorney.

Garmin has some serious routing issues going on, right now. Enough that I’ve found my Garmin to be unreliable as a GPS for trucking. The solution is to add shaping points. Not something I’m going to do after paying what the OTR 1000 costs. It’s not just I-75. It tries to avoid I-40 near Amarillo. It tried to get screwy around I-70 near Denver. Others are having these issues since the July map update.

I'm new to Garmin and today our new OTR 700 was routing us on a big detour off of I80 EB just outside of Cheyenne. It said I80 was closed.

Of course it wasn't, but Garmin can't figure out in 2021 that the EB highway being closed off to be redone doesn't mean that the WB highway is just turned into a single lane EB/WB.

Pretty disappointed that a $400 GPS can't figure out a simple thing like this. Noticed it also isn't very good at showing the correct speed limits. Again, it's 2021!!!

I am using my Garmin 770 to find nearest truck stops and walmarts. Any real GPS stuff I do on my iPad Pro 10 and the installed Co Pilot App. Garmin isnt even close anymore.

Pretty much how you do it, run a gps then have a few tools to verify the gps directions.

We have a version of Co Pilot in our Quallcoms and they are not the same either.
