I grew up in northern NJ…. The best thing about going into NYC as a teen was 1)plenty of places to buy beer that didn’t even know what ID was… and 2) 42nd Street….and the prostitute stroll down in the ‘meat district’ which was an area near the West Side Highway and in the 30’s. Meat packing plants during the day, 100’s of hookers in all shapes and sizes at night. I seen stuff a teen should never see
It was pretty gross but fun to people watch…
Then Giuliani became Mayor and ‘cleaned up’ NYC

I usually figure those adult book stores are versions on the ones on 42nd St back in the day. Fronts for other illegal activities…
Drugs, prostitution, glory holes, money laundering and who knows what else… No way selling a few dildos can pay the bills on those places

History does repeat itself…read an article that brought back memories of the early 80’s. It was just like this…

I remember my dad saying he would not sleep in Manhattan at night with a load of steel then big Rudy came in and cleaned house. Night and day difference

South Side, Bookstore with cramped minimal parking.
Used to be a good place for a 10 break, especially Eastbound.
WAS Free then they started charging to park (in '16) becuz of trash dumpers yet trash bins onsite. Trucks diminished. Became QUIETER.
SAFER than those places in West Memphis.
NO Requirement to patronize Business.

I parked there quite a lot from leaving Coppell, TX. to NC runs.

I-77, Flattop Mtn, East Side B4 Cash Box.
Rough Lot.

Parking at Wally World locations didn't require shopping. Same with Adult Book Stores.
