I am also a fairly recent Schneider veteran.
Now doing tanker/hazmat duty, hauling fuel. Home daily.
For those looking to find info on Schneider as a place to start, I can vouch for what Gamecock's earlier comments were here.
Yes, a pretty darn good review/summary.
Based on my own experiences there--I would add to that posted earlier, for the benefit of new drivers--purchase/find a separate navigation system (like, for example, a Garmin) for use beyond/in addition to that provided by your starter company. MAKE SURE it has dedicated truck software/routes!!!
That way--when the company's navigation system goes down/quits working--you will still have access to turn-by-turn "on the fly" truck-specific directions.
I can't imagine what my first year would have been like without that technology (nor do I want to).
A bonus: if you are contemplating Schneider for tanker duty/training--only do so if you can get on a dedicated account after your training. Pass up on Schneider tanker for OTR work.

Did Schneider Bulk. Fired on my first load out alone. High hooked empty trailer. Got out of it on my own. But still decided to report it due to honesty is best policy rule.
Big mistakeMrsWJAA, Lonesome and meechyaboy Thank this. -
When I was driving for Crete, I was about to hook up to a trailer. A Schneider driver warned me that I was about to overshoot the kingpin. I stopped and thanked him. He said that you automatically get fired if you overshoot the kingpin at Schneider.Speed_Drums and Lonesome Thank this.

Had there exact same thing happen to a friend when I was there… exact same thing… got from under it himself.. and reported it to be honest with them and got let go

You made yourself an immediate liability in a major corporation that values profit over anything else. In a situation like that, never volunteer information when there's nothing to report.Laatl8, MrsWJAA, Speed_Drums and 2 others Thank this.

You will be prepared thoroughly…. However- something difficult is going to happen either that 1st week of month that you are solo.. it’s is important that you do not I repeat do not panic… for some it’s finding parking, or putting it in that weird dock or maybe even fatigue. Don’t be lazy but do not stress yourself out some 800 miles away from home… the job will be tough on you until you got some a familiarity. Just breathe through it…Some tips for Schneider. Set your Nat as early as possible and leave it. (Updating your nat moves you back in the que of drivers) Run your truck how you want to run your truck..keep the hours you want.. The assignments are the assignment and you should plan to get them done but you do not have to burn your clock everyday because you have hours.. plan it out and do it how you planned for your sanity. You do not have to accept every preassignment. You sleep at 8pm and they have a load that picks up at 12am. They are going to lie and sell you a dream to try to take that terrible load(you’re the only driver in the area,it really needs to go) Stand your ground… don’t make it a habit or just rejecting loads but don’t be a pushover..Last don’t worry so much about the fuel bonus it’s not that lucrative for the amount of stress it causes. An extra 4¢ per mile only for a quarter is only 40$ per 1000 miles.. you plan on being there for more than a year try to work with them if not don’t stress it. I got stiffed out of 3 of my bonus once I caught on to game my truck didn’t shut off my last 3 mos with them.
Sorry for the long read but are you in a contract with them?Opus, MrsWJAA, Speed_Drums and 3 others Thank this. -
Nothing can fully prepare you for that first time out alone, you'll have a lot small issues that seem big at the time that you'll look back and laugh at years later. Just always remember to stop and think before doing something you are not sure about.MrsWJAA and LtlAnonymous Thank this.

Nope hubby is in the industry, I already knew better than to do that, lol... your other advice is pretty solid also, a lot of stuff I hadn't considered. I only plan to stay a year, two tops...Lonesome Thanks this.
