You know...some of the things he's brought up seem outside the realm of reality simply because the standards have fallen so far in this industry. *shrug*
Friend, REO6205, REALITY098765 and 2 others Thank this. -
It's not so much the method of pay but the total renumeration. I guarantee you that if otr entry level wages were $80,000 with most drivers averaging $110,000, we wouldn't have a driver retention problem.
Savor the Flavor, Pamela1990, Eldiablo and 6 others Thank this. -
Things have changed since then, minimum wage workers are older now.
Raising the minimum wage hasn't hurt prices in civilized countries, and in the parts of the US that have done this have seen improvement in the local economy as the extra income is spent by low wage workers instead of saved by the 1%.Pamela1990 and dwells40 Thank this. -
The federal minimum wage has remained the same for 12 years.
Jeff Bezos is worth well over $200 billion.
Two fun facts offered without comment.Still undecided and dwells40 Thank this. -
This is why I'm starting to hate dry van. It's full of time wasters. I drive locally but the biggest bottleneck of my day isn't traffic. It's getting loaded/unloaded. I hate wasting time. Yeah I still get paid by the hour but if I'm doing local I don't want to be getting home late everyday because some sorry ### didn't feel like doing their job. Can't wait to go into something where I can do 99% of the work myself.Still undecided, Pamela1990 and dwells40 Thank this.

If everyone was like these guys in 1775, the country wouldn't have been founded. You don't like taxation without representation? Then leave! Lol
At my company you can choose mileage or a flat rate shift pay. I team with my wife and we run hard, so we make a little more on mileage, but the shift pay seems like a fair compromise. Each driver gets $400 a shift, so if you're good with that then problem solved.Pamela1990 and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
Alot of the minimum wage workers helped make him a billionaire.
Why do minimum wage workers have the latest and greatest phones.
Why do minimum wage workers smoke, drink, vape.
Lots of fun facts out there. Most people make choices and sometimes they aint the best but they made them. Ive made so many bad ones ive lost count but ive always been able to find a job paying more than minimum wage. My one and only minimum wage job was when i was 15 i worked it for 6-8 months and found one paying more.RockinChair and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
99% of those companies are a 8-5 job too.

The retention problem is not entirely based on pay or eating in the truck.
Most people are not cut out for being a truck driver especially a OTR driver. Just like I am not cut out to work in a office no matter the size of the paycheck.Pamela1990 Thanks this.
