Submitted apps to several companies over the weekend and talked to a few recruiters today. Just wanted to say thanks to @Chinatown for the recommendations. Freymiller is quickly moving to the top of my list and after doing some more research on them and speaking with a recent driver of theirs on another Internet community I'm starting to lean that way. I ended up playing phone tag with the Prime recruiter, but that's the last company I'm waiting to speak to. I'd like to start the process with whichever company I'm going with next week, which of course, the recruiters were more than happy to hear lol.
I'll do a quick write up on what the main 3 companies I'm talking to have offered once I have the same info from each of them. Probably some time later this week is when I'll do that. Either way, I'm sure whichever of the companies I go with I'll have a great first year. Each have their pros and cons so it's really just determining which one is the best fit for me for my first 12 months and what I want to do.Speed_Drums, TxFLdino57 and Chinatown Thank this. -
Freymiller Reviews | TruckersReport
Particularly this one. I see a whole lotta reasons to run, not walk, from this company but the decision is yours, not mine. Of all these horrible things about this company, charging a driver a dollar a mile to go out of route is ridiculous. I've gone 20 miles off route to go around a 6 hour backup for a major multi car pileup. If they think they're going to CHARGE ME for making them money and moving that load down the road they've lost their pea-pickin' minds. Oh, and charge me for toll roads? You try to get from south of Chicago to Wisconsin without taking one. It will take you 2 hours longer, I promise, and that's on a good day. Charge you for load locks? Are you freakin' SERIOUS??? What kind of a company is this?
BEWARE: You must run teams for 6 months!!!!
"Must have 6 months to start as a solo. Pay starts at 0.43 cpm. Orientation 3 days starting tuesday pay is 300$ . No sharing hotels , paid breakfast and lunch. You get paid Friday for orientation but you won't get a paycheck for 2 weeks due to the delay pay. You will be required to buy 2 load locks for orientation costing 100$. The 1100 mile average is true, lots of miles . There is mandatory per diem it's not optional. Home time is 1 day for 1 week . 3 weeks out minimum, 5 days home max. Freymiller uses loves exclusively you can fill up at any loves. They do reimburse parking . They do not pay for scale tickets but will reimburse you for the cost. They don't have prepass or paid tolls you must enter all scales, you take a toll road they will charge you. They have mandatory routing , it cost a dollar a mile if you go out of route. They do not do 34 hour resets you have to request one by dispatch you will run recaps. 30% of the loads are relays , not much drop and hook mostly live load/unload with automatic detention at 20 an hour after 2 hours. Dispatch is very rude and pushy but do not bother you if you are on time. Most days you won't hear from a dispatcher if you on time they do leave you alone. Night dispatch will call you to do repowers, don't answer if you don't want the load or they will ding you with a service failure. You can listen to dispatch calling drivers insulting names over the phone in the office. The biggest thing about the company is the long hauls 1700+ mile runs."Last edited: Dec 6, 2021

I'd work there even today. I've learned over the years that many rambling, complaining stories are embellished in the complainers favor.

I don't know too many "rambling complainers" who state that you must pay for your own load locks if it wasn't true.Chinatown Thanks this. -
@drivingmissdaisy the purpose of this thread is for recommendations for a reefer company with a good training program for a recent CDL school graduate.
While others have provided recommendations, you've just talked about how loud reefer units are and how terrible Freymiller is. Have you personally driven for Freymiller? Do you have a recommendation for a company for me to look into?
