It’s way dated. The military couldn’t care less these days.

To the Feds, no it doesn’t matter. To your employer, they may claim you are stealing company time, if you stay on the clock, after your company duties are completed.

That's what I would do. There's no need to be all Hank Hill about it. LoL

Aha. I was thinking regs, not company policy. First, he already said he would talk to the company, but mostly it's rare for companies that pay hourly to hire zero experience people.

Aside from whether you can technically get around it or not is the main issue. That being you don’t want to be operating a commercial vehicle without proper rest. It’s a recipe for a serious disaster.

Don Key Hotey and truckdriver31 Thank this.

Excellent question. No idea. I will ask, as this could affect how they approach this issue.

I totally agree. Both are important to me: not do anything to jeopardize my job *and* get the required rest.

I had to look up who Hank Hill is.... lol
Being new to the industry, I just want to make sure I don't do anything negligent or stupid that could make problems for me or for other people.

Hank deals in propane and propane accessories. And, as we all know, propane CAN be a dignified lady, but she can also be a dirty girl.
