I've gotten a little lax lately. I usually keep my speed limited to 5 mph over on the hwy and at or under the limit in town. No stops.

I won't work for dac companies.
Most of my career has been local.

That explains it. Both of those states (along with Illinois,Michigan and to a lesser extent,Virginia and Maryland) have a hard-on for semis exceeding the speed limit. And if the speed is high enough they will put you through the ringer (Level inspection) to see if they can find anything else to nail you with.
Georgia especially has been going after super truckers as well-DPS down there has an enforcement blitz at least once a month!

Yup, both are probable cause for inspection states since they don't have a lot of fixed inspection sites their motor carrier officers hang out and pull over trucks for inspection. Especially prevalent on the toll roads since they have no fixed inspection sites but happens throughout both states.

If I had to guess it was a white suv with red lights in Ohio rather than their standard grey cruiser with blue lights and an unmarked pickup truck or suv in Indiana. Those are officers assigned specifically to motor carrier enforcement.

CSA speeding violations 1-5 over effectively are not even violations at all; in other words they do not exist as violations. 6-10 over speeding tickets have a high percentage of being overturned in court as most truckers have an on-call prepaid attorney service. So what officers have learned to do is use the CSA program to issue 'warnings' as they call it but make no mistake, it is an actual violation through the CSA system. And to fight it you have to use the dataQ system which sends the violation straight back to the officer who wrote it and he/she must agree that the violation was in error. So the chance of that happening is very low percentage.

Drivers don't acquire 'points' for these violations but your motor carrier does. In effect, if the motor carrier gets too many points, they are more likely to discipline the driver up to and including termination to protect their motor carrier numbers and insurance rates. Often times motor carriers with high violation points generated by their drivers cannot book that higher paying freight as shippers may look up their public safety records and decide to go with a 'safer' motor carrier. So in this sense, CSA violations can hurt you as a driver. Especially if you rack up tons of CSA violations and they let you go, you may have a hard time getting a new driving job as a result.
