The black line rolls into the sky,
    The distance comes in fast,
A gust of wind gives me a shove,
I hold as best I can.

In the night a whirl of blue,
And then a slash of red,
    I hold a little tighter,
    There's trouble up ahead.

Did they ever have a chance to see
Their loved ones one last time,
Did they ever think the end would come
While riding the long black line.

The black line runs behind me,
As far as I can see,
Up ahead I feel its pull
To where my dreams might be.

I've run from fear and sadness,
    Happiness I couldn't find,
Until I found the life I live,
    Upon the long black line.
