What is the easiest and most valuable way to get your own authority?

OOIDA did mine. Start to finish was about 2.5 weeks. Knowing what I know now, I would've done it on my own. It cost me about 7-$800

 

Just remember, if you miss a signature, you get to pay another $300 to fmcsa if they kick it back.
Ooida they ensure it’s correct before they send it.

 

It's ridiculously simple to do it yourself.

I filled out my application and then called them. After I got them on the phone, we went over the application line by line until it was perfect. Done deal.

 

I guess it's intimidating to some people. But like you also know, it's a simple process. There's nothing to fear.

 

Yeah, when I first started thumbing through the application, it was daunting. But I read the instructions, and most of it made sense. I did leave some stuff blank, to wait for the FMCSA lady to help. Once she got on the phone, I was surprised how informal the app actually was. There was quite a bit she said "just leave it blank, it doesn't really matter."
