Why all the fuss? They could have waited for him to take his 30 min break.

So, aren’t they only allowed do shoot someone if they feel their life was threatened?

    Asking for a friend.

It’s Texas, the minute the smuggler started ramming squad vehicles (basically using the tanker as a weapon) he signed his own death warrant and deadly force was authorized!

I'm not an attorney, but I do know that Texas law allows the use of deadly force to protect one's own life, to protect the life of another person, and in certain situations to protect one's own property or the property of another person. Additional justifications may be available to peace officers who are engaged in the lawful discharge of their official duties.

Oh, and I'd say the driver's driving through the grassy median into town and driving through neighborhoods certainly counts as disregard for the life and safety of himself, his human cargo, the officers, the motoring public, and the townspeople of Cotulla.

    But.
They put their self in that danger.
He was just driving along, minding his own business, and they come with these annoying sirens and flashing lights, and probably veered at him a little.
There’s gotta be two sides to this story...

    Yeah,umm…
He tried to bypass the Border Patrol checkpoint-that’s all they needed to know to figure it out he was up to no good!

Oh, the place where a Mexican asks you if you’re a US citizen, 50+ miles from the border.

    That sounds encouraging.
