Walmart is offering 110k salary first year to combat driver shortage.
Not sure if that's for all areas or only specific regions. Also don't know how many years exp you need to get the job.
Read the story on Marketwatch says it was announced 21 hours ago.
This is up from the previous yearly salary of 87k .

They definitely have lowered their hiring standards in recent years based on what I have seen. Maybe this will attract better drivers.
Coover Thanks this. -
If they have lowered their standards yet are paying more, they must be having trouble keeping those better drivers for the long term.
Geekonthestreet, Gearjammin' Penguin and Coover Thank this. -
How will lower hiring standards attract better drivers?Tall Mike Thanks this.
-
My point was they have lowered their standards and it shows. Maybe the increase in pay will attract better drivers so they don't have to hire just any goof off the street to fill a seat.LtlAnonymous and RockinChair Thank this.

Maybe the word is getting out about the dirty pool Walmart plays, like firing guys for pulling over to send a text message.JadeLove, Moosetek13, Texas_hwy_287 and 4 others Thank this.
-
That sends the wrong message. I'm sure they don't want guys sending text messages while they're driving.LtlAnonymous and Tall Mike Thank this.

UPS is the same way. I've got a friend that runs team over there. They raised the pay a while back trying to attract drivers. Nobody wants to work anymore it seems.
LtlAnonymous Thanks this.
