Just tell the DOT officer that you thought it was like paper logs. You can just change it as needed to fit your driving record. Ha Ha

If its not connected to the eld dongle/you arent assigned to one by your company then yes, it functions as you (ducktart) say. Its basically a paper log on your phone.
On the other hand, as siinman says, when attached to the ecm dongle. drive is unable to be editted, and much more. Any edit will be tracked and each start and stop of the engine, a single day can be as bad as 5 or 6 pages just to read through the eventlogCoffey, Sirscrapntruckalot, God prefers Diesels and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have no idea. I'm new to this. I was always using peoplenet or qualcomm before which were attached to the truck. I drive for a smaller company (14 drivers). Said they haven't had any problems with DOT, you just hand them the app on your phone and they email the logs to themselves from the app. Maybe they don't actually check if it's connected to the truck or something
could be some kind of oversight/loophole. I don't plan on running illegally. I just thought that everyone's app was like thisSirscrapntruckalot and God prefers Diesels Thank this. -
Open the app and scroll to the bottom. Does it look like this?
Siinman Thanks this. -
How old is your truck/engine model year?

And if your J1939 pin gets a loose connection from a big boot bumping it, it puts a red dot.
See ELD red dot.
says lost engine hour synchronization, but it still counts drive time.
I’m 93 mile from destination, but i’m legally unsafe to drive.25(2)+2, JolliRoger and God prefers Diesels Thank this. -

Ducktart will have problems in some states with some troopers who check if the ELD is synching with the ECM/odometer. It will count as a violation but not OOS. I don't know how closely the DOT follows carriers who are non-compliant in this manner. Doesn't seem like many states crackdown on this type of non-compliance.

Better get it hooked up or you will have some big problems with DOT if they pull you over. Or move to a company that is legit. wonder what the CSA scores are and how many times they have been hit.God prefers Diesels Thanks this.
