Yea that could have been prevented with a few extra seconds, instead of being lazy.

Ya gotta love these guys too that think they need to be going 15 mph in reverse when they hook up, and slam the living sh it out the kingpin like they’re joining couplers on a freight train….

When I unhook I run the dolly legs down to the ground or close to it, and then dump the airbags when unhooking, and when hooking too.

When I pull a strange trailer I always get close then jump out to see how the 5th wheel is aligning with the trailer. I usually set a little higher with 24.5 rubber than trucks with 22.5. I have to watch that closely when I pull my buddy’s van trailer.

Some of his drivers only get the dolly legs close to the ground then pull out from under the trailer, so my airbag dump comes in handy there, since his trucks have 22.5 tires…..

You know, I swore up and down this would never happen to me. I always check my 5th wheel on my pre trip, even if I didn't drop the trailer. I got into a spare daycab yesterday to deliver my load while my truck was being serviced...I broke my routine. Backed under, hooked up the lines, cranked the landing gears, then walked back to my truck to get my BOL for the load. Walked back to the daycab and took off, only the trailer didn't follow me. Down on the frame of the truck it went. We all make mistakes, even if we swear we don't

Surprising how they’ll hang on. I high-hooked my own set once and made it from Coquitlam to the Dogwood Husky with it like that. Saw it from the table in the restaurant. Good thing, I doubt I would have made it up ####### without losing it.
