Yeah but why go in Canada when we can drive here for the same money? Have you ever done border crossing? It's a pain and waste of time. As I said no extra money.
As far as starting out I agree with what you said. But why? Nowadays there is a labor SHORTAGE ok? That means you are in demand everywhere. $30 an hour hone everyday plenty of jobs out there. No reason even to consider a low paying company like Halvor.
Basically this company has nothing going for it, so no reason to work here.
Shipex 2 years ago or so was the same way and look what happened to them.
Halvor Lines, Superior, WI: No longer worth it

Oh yeah, cameras are inward facing and ALWAYS ON!!
They lie to new hires and say the camera only comes on at certain times but it's always on. You stop and pass in a bottle yes they see it. You stop make a personal phone call they hear it. Even personal information.
Read the review on Google how they ran a credit check on a guy. These people are dishonest and liars.2Tap and Need4Speed Thank this. -
There's a new review on Indeed, a guy complaining about low pay. What I talked about before...
He also mentioned keyboard warriors. That's what dispatch is there..probably tried to extort money from him, he refused and then #### started.
VERY BAD COMPANY! -
I don't take any reviews on indeed or glassdoor serious, those reviews are unreliable. Unless a person can actually confirm that they have worked for the company it's just a shallow review.
Cameras are not driver facing, outward only and I know this for a fact. OOS rates... what was the cause of you being out of service? Most out of services are caused by driver neglect. I've driven for several years ( not for Halvor) and have never had an OOS.
The cameras are always on and can be viewed at anytime by safety, and the cameras have very elaborate software, maybe too elaborate. It's more like having a babysitter on board. With such precise software they may as well be driver facing, but they're not. The cameras have the capability of being turned on to face the driver, but they are not.drh72 Thanks this. -
I'm just trying to be more defined in finding negativity in any company. Driving in snow should not be a complaint, rather a professional skill. I'm not defending Halvor or any company for that matter, just trying to see the difference between the truth as in first hand experience and disgruntled drivers.

I resigned from Halvor earlier this winter. Was checking their safety record yesterday and guess what? They have racked up 444 CSA points in March April and May.
Yes that's 444 points in 90 days which is astounding! And incredible...! Most of it was from unsafe driving in various states. So it wasn't fleecing at scales.
I haven't kept in touch, but I'm sure management is still patting themselves on the back for a job well done.
That, and they might be getting targeted by DOT. That's what happens when too many drivers complain about missing pay, unsafe equipment, and general driver abuse.Last edited: Jun 15, 2022

As a new driver starting out but as a man with plenty of valuable real world experience, I wouldn't work for Halvor Lines now if they doubled the pay. Ghosting prospective employers or employees is simply bad business. I cant imagine being in one of their trucks and at the mercy or whim of these people.
I wanted to learn, drive and grow for a local smaller company. They talk a good game. Get your CDL Learners, 3-4 weeks driving school while getting paid a grand a week. Sounded like a decent deal. Go through the process, squeaky clean driving record, excellent references they didn't want and only concerned with your previous employment over the last 3 years verifiable through lexis nexis or the work number i'm sure.
Left several messages with Tobin, one of their recruiters out of the Twin Cities. Phone system transferred me once to HR who made silly excuses for not getting a call back at the end of week 2. **Crickets Chirping**
3 weeks in waiting, don't bother calling. I hope they don't read this, i dislike educating #######.
Guess i'll give Roehl a go. I didnt want to apply to a bunch of places at once and end up ghosting prospective future employers. I knew trucking was a thankless cut throat industry thanks to twenty years working the docks but when your own company makes it miserable on top of living at rest stops and flying j's...... makes me want to rethink this retirement job plan of mine.Another Canadian driver, teams567, drh72 and 2 others Thank this. -
I give each employer 30 days total to respond. Phone call is one attempt. Preferred method is the second,. And 2 weeks later I re-send the email/fax asking for an update. Granted, I am hiring experienced drivers only, so a vast majority of the employment verifications are to other trucking companies who know how to respond and usually do so within a couple days.
It could simply be that they cannot verify one of the employers and are still trying to get their attention.2Tap and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
Ask yourself, if they treat someone like that even before getting hired, how will that driver be treated after?mjd4277 Thanks this.
