this is true about the steering. nearly all cars nowadays have power steering, WHICH IS controlled by the computer, to basically "shut off" the pump when it is not needed to save on gasoline. when called, the computer activates the pump. this all takes less than a nano second, and the driver hardly feels anything in difference to feel.

also, the car "could have been" on cruise control, and the driver NOT paying attention and the car was on the crown of the road, and veered off..

and guess what...the cruise control on nearly every car, truck, whatever, is ALSO computer controlled along with a radar collision avoidance system, and THAT doesn't even need to be only on a self driving car.

i know, all my past 4 cars, had that, and none of them, are self self driving.

Since our warehouse complex is a 1/2 mile down from a tesla charging station we get to deal with those idiots around trucks all the time. Most tesla drivers I see are high on the hipster spectrum and will run out into the street like a cat chasing a shiny string of yarn or a ball. I’d be willing to bet that truck had some nice chrome on it that got the attention of the tesla driver and it steered toward it.
I love how they can roll thru stop signs, maneuver with no blinker fluid, play kamikaze with trucks and run 10 over in a school zone around here all in the name of saving the planet.

Funny thing is they built the charging station in a bad area and these people will be still wearing a face diaper standing out by their cars or sitting in them with the doors open while they are charging oblivious to the environment around them.

While I get what you're stating. Your nano second reference is off. An electrical signal only travels about 2 & 1/4 inches down a wire in one nanosecond (One of the reasons the older Cray supercomputer systems were usually built in a round configuration, to be able to minimize wiring lengths and not have as much signal propagation delay.). My guess is that the whole process of turning the steering pump back on takes around 1/2 a second, or thereabouts. Much faster than you'd notice. But, there are 500,000 nanoseconds in 1/2 a second.
All that said, the fact is was a Tesla is kind of irrelevant. Most cars on the road these days would have the same fatal result with a head-on collision with a semi. Without knowing anything about why the vehicle veered into the semi's path, blaming it on the Tesla is 100% unqualified speculation. It could be something specific with it being a Tesla. But, there are hundreds of other reasons that could have caused this having nothing to do with that.
R.I.P. to those in the vehicle and I hope the driver of the semi is able to recover from this tragedy.

In all fairness the truck probably spoke computer to the Tesla because it wanted to end its life because some overweight fat lard bag of an america was pissing in a big gulp and the truck didn’t want to go through that anymore so the truck told the Tesla to take its life by veering into its lane.

    Hmm.

Reminds me of a wreck years ago when Cruise Control was first put on a vehicle,
Someone set cruise and went to the back of the Van cause everyone was partying and he wanted to also.
    Cruise is like autopilot, right?

There's been a commercial lately on Fox news. It shows Tesla cars running over child dummies on a test track.

Says that it's the worst software and they need to get pulled from the road.
