I always have issues with my blood sugar dropping real fast and make me pass out or very close to it when going in a hospitals and some doctors. Watched my father go through hell with prostate cancer and it scared me for life. Take my wife to have surgery and she gets out and I am all messed up in her recovery room. Ha ha nurse are like is he gonna be ok? She has to tell them how I react. Ha ha

While Blair is doing all the planing I’ve been busy hauling some of that $2.50 a mile freight.
On another subject, Elvis died on this date in 1977 and I was running I70 in Kansas in a 1972 White Freightliner

The wife having to prep them in recovery room for you is funny Lolol. But sometimes that traumatic stuff affects us for life.

My thing that puts me into hyperdrive and gets me running through fire is a dog fight. I got ate up a few years ago breaking up a fight between a Mastiff type dog and my Belgian Malinois. Took every ounce of energy to separate them and I got my left hand shredded and chipped the bone in my right wrist and I ended up needing emergency surgery a few days later from infection. Now any sign of a fight sends me flying around to prevent it. Everyone was like let them fight it out… naw, this was a real fight and someone was gonna die and I wasn’t gonna let it happen. I’d still jump in the middle of them today.

But I’ve also had the delayed reactions @blairandgretchen have had. We lost a child in the mid 90s and although I did cry over that I tried to keep it all together for my wife and family. Was about 10 years later on a trip to the cemetery to put some flowers and spread a few ashes of our longtime dog who passed, for whatever reason it just hit me and it was floodgate central. Just thought about how old he would be and all the times we missed together I was a wreck. But when it was all over I just felt a huge relief. Hopefully Blair gets some peace now he has honed in on all that.

Oh yeah anymore when we go to the hospital she tells them in advance just so they can bring some orange juice in the room. Ha Ha Kind of ashamed of it but it is funny in a way as well.

I am the same way when it comes to dogs fighting. Cant stand to let it go and have to jump in. So far I have never had any major issues like that, My better got bit by a chow when we was teens and it almost went through his eye ball, he got lucky as hell and only had to get stitches.

That is very unfortunate about your child. I know as a father myself it would had been very hard to keep strong and help everyone get pass that. Very sorry for your loss! I have a very hard time when I lose my dog or cat and prob take it about the same as losing a child. Hell to this day almost 2 years later I still shed a few tears over my little Bear puppy I lost from Kidney damage. I tend to be very close to my animals and not so much with people. Been stabbed in the back for helping people out so not much faith in people these days.

Feel like I've talked to everybody from the president to the janitor at this stage.

Route survey guy misunderstood and embarked on the proposed route, not the state suggested route - never told me he was doing so, and with screaming kids in the background and something about 'moving his family', I'm a little concerned about him. He had to backtrack 100 miles.

MODOT doesn't require the survey from him - they just require the route to be physically driven, but guess who signs off on it - Yup, as always - driver. So we submitted and it was accepted. Survey guy is still sending notes to me, but I'm dubious. Mainly lack of trust.

But - can't request MoSHP officers until IA permit is in hand. Talked to IA, and it's at district level, 3 counties (have to order permits in those counties too) I imagine will send out district engineers to survey the few detours off state route. Or they'll think "Uncle Bob lives off that road - looked fine last Saturday when we went for BBQ - it'll be fine".

Deferred from the route survey guys' offer to find escorts - went with some gals I've worked with before.

Wait for IA. Shipper says we'll load Monday and drive it Tuesday, so . . . waiting waiting.

LS HH wants to organize state police, so I'll leave it to them - get the $ worth out of their 23%. :)

    A few thoughts.

Just remember: those mailboxes were defective or leaning already, poorly marked, and too close to the road anyway.

The cost of MO state police shouldn't surprise you. Have you heard how dangerous that state is these days?

Don't tell the IA police what the MO police are making, until after delivery is complete.

Sorry pal, that's all I got. Enjoy the trip and hopefully the School of Hard Knocks tuition will be cheap this semester!

LOL! Yeah, Iowa state police sound like the TQL of the state police world. :)

I probably am. Just trying to make sure it all goes well.
