This is an easy one. Pass only when going in a straight line. Do not pass on turns. Ever.

Always remember to slow BEFORE a turn. Easy rule of thumb- taking a curve slower than you could allows you another chance at taking it again differently depending on load weight and conditions. Getting it wrong and too fast easily leads to that being your last attempt.

It is your truck, your load, your life.

Any super trucker barking on the radio is likely the ones you find in emergency ramps, ditches, or on the barriers blocking up traffic for hours.

Brake before the turn, slow down.

    Accelerate through the turns .

Don’t pass trucks in a curve. Nor near an on/off ramp. Check shoulder ahead before you pass.

Pass quickly and clean, or not at all.

Kept me safe for 18 years.

Slow down on approaching the curve without using brakes if possible. Sometimes this means under the posted speed. If you have to use brakes try to have them released at a safe speed before you enter the curve. When you get into end of the curve lightly throttle out to plant some power to the ground and resume speed. Not using the brakes abruptly helps keep you stable, balanced, and up right.
Keep your mirror on the inside edge of the center line on a right hand curve helps keep you from going into on coming lane. On a left hand curve keep trailer tandems barely on that center line.

Some people need to learn to not be so much in a hurry?

Were you taught the Smith system? I thought some of it was silly, but the one thing that helped me as a new driver was aim high in steering. Look far ahead and it will be much easier to drive smoothly and correctly maintain your lane.

I pass on the outside. If you have a special set of matched tires like me, it WILL HOLD!!
