Will an At Fault accident in a personal vehicle prevent you from getting hired by a trucking company? I know it DOES rate up your premiums for insurance.

That would depend on the severity, how recent, and what the rest of your application looks like.

I have one 5mph over warning in 2019 in a big truck, which of course shows up as a ticket on your CSA. The accident was me backing up 12 inches into an idiotic woman's SUV who parked length wise behind my pickup truck ... just out of view because she was only halfway across the back of the my truck and I didn't see her there until I backed up! I have a camper shell on it and I never expected anyone to be parked on the SIDEWALK BEHIND ME!! They said because there wasn't a NO PARKING sign, she wasn't in the wrong?!?

It's illegal to park on a sidewalk, no signage is needed.

Apparently not the case in Cape Girardeau MissouriAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

Parking over any sidewalk is illegal, even if the sidewalk crosses your driveway. Sidewalks are for public use, and a sidewalk that crosses your driveway is part of an easement. The owner of the car that is parked over the sidewalk receives a ticket, and there may also be a fine.

And I guess what happened in that accident is irrelevant at this point. Will that make it difficult for me to get a driving job?

I’d take it to court and fight it.

In explaining that accident I would reword it because after reading this I would never hire you. You backed into another vehicle. Yet you blame an “idiotic woman” who parked wrong and you had a camper shell on and you didn’t see her and you didn’t expect someone to park there.
Fact is you hit a stationary object and accept zero blame while majority of trucking accidents are from backing. I’m not trying to be a dick here but when interviewing I would highly suggest a different approach.drvrtech77, RockinChair, drh72 and 3 others Thank this. -
When ever you approach a vehicle you're going to drive it's a good idea to do a walk around or looky lou. You'd be surprised how many corndogs will pull in right behind you. But you know that now. Good luck.
