With our 2 trucks we ran a total of 127k combined last year. But it was all local miles. Still took a lot of time off

Here’s what we’re gonna do.
1.)
TallJoe, Midwest Trucker, RefMata and 1 other person Thank this. -
We haven't pulled a load in six weeks. We are ashamed.
I think Everyone on this thread has been in the business longer or as long as I have, so if you've gotten after it, you should still have a couple hundred U's in the bank.
Cause I also noticed everyone made moar than we did.
So that means if you don't have the coin, you can't manage your money responsibly, and should probably be a company driver anyway.
Park the truck. Let Pedro and Ahmad eat one another. -
God prefers Diesels, runningman0661, TallJoe and 4 others Thank this.

You do you that's cool. Life takes turns sometimes. Rates right now aren't so bad that anyone should just shut a truck down for weeks bleeding cash imo. There's still good loads in a lot of places. Not as many but they're there. Now the spring of 2020 was a time to park it if you were dependent on load boards but that was once in a lifetime thing. A one truck operator can always make money off loadboard "scraps".lynchy and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

In the past week, i have been thinking about maybe extending my time past June 2023 to allow my wife to get situated with her work before my income goes to zero and i have to start back up from scratch again in a different field.
Then i wake up and talk to a broker or read this board and snap right out of it again. -
Actually prepaying in advance still means your paying to sit. Your paying for insurance on 365 days and if you work 365 days then insurance is cheaper per day. Sitting for weeks or months means the days you work your insurance is expensive.
Just a heads up.rollin coal Thanks this. -
2.5 a mile is pretty bad with 5 $ a gallon of fuel .if you take that extra fsc out and diesel goes back to 2.5 $/gal every regional haul will be under 2$/mile and long haul under 1.5$/mile .ProfessionalNoticer Thanks this.

Amazon and JB hunt power only are averaging 1.35 per mile now with fsc, so DV is not that far behind, and reefer following as well.
