I think it’s Saia’s trucks and how they order them. None of their single screws have the power diverter/diff lock.

I’ve talked to some drivers at Estes, FXF, OD, ABF out of Denver and they say their trucks have the power diverter/diff lock on their single screws and they don’t have the traction issues the Saia trucks do.

I have heard Saia doesnt treat their drivers very well system wide, so really none of that surprises me.

I worked for Estes for a couple of years 7-8 years ago, and got out to Denver quite a bit. Decent yard - although I was sitting there one time doing paperwork before heading out the gate and a mule deer stuck his head in the window and asked what I was doing - #### they are big. Only single screw I drove there was a brand new KW with all the auto-braking crap on it that #### near killed me twice (on ice). Locked up once when a 4 wheeler cut in front of me and almost put me in the ditch and one other time I was coming up a cloverleaf and the thing saw the cars on the freeway above me as I was half way up and locked up on me. Was soon after that I got my twin screw back. I guess the company made some adjustments after that.

But I enjoyed Estes. If I ever sell my truck and go back to work for a company I wouldnt mind going there.

OD doesn't have power/diff lock on our single screws.

Yeah I can’t do driver facing cams. Imma be real I’ve reserved parking while rolling and froze myself out when I got tired. I absolutely could not turn the same miles I already do with a driver facing cam. Maaaaybe with a really good union. But still probably not.

Not to get into a pissing match, but I remember when CF and all the rest of the freight companies ran 80 all winter long. They left Cheyenne in the middle of a typical winter day and plugged along. Not questioning your reason for leaving, but the cracker box trucks they had in the 80’s and 90’s survived, I’m sure the ones today can survive as well. Now granted, there was the occasional mishap across those 402 miles, but they survived. Now the rest of the BS, I fully understand.

Put good chains on that single, and it will out climb any other truck in the mountains on mediocre chains.

Ditto, but most of the gripes are about the driver facing cameras!

I work at Saia and I like it here been with em almost 20 years.

The thing about LTL is you can have one terminal run smooth like a Cadillac and the next terminal is run like a gulag.

One terminal the drivers and management are great hardworking people the other is filled with backstabbing liars and lazy bums who never even stepped foot in a big rig.

That's why ratings for LTL companies are all over the map.

We can all agree on the cameras I guess but it is what it is and you either deal with them or move on down the line.
