I'm about to quit trucker, nothing good about it. Uber drivers are making more money and home every night. Not to mention they can drive the scenic parkways lol
Snailexpress and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
The language barrier is going to be least of our problems!! Read this factsheet FACT SHEET: The Biden-Harris Administration Trucking Action Plan to Strengthen America’s Trucking Workforce - The White House That's not to mention the speed limiters proposal that will be enforced June 2023.
To continue on the initial topic, fuel surcharge should be applicable for EVERYONE, meaning they should be included in ALL rates and based on current fuel costs, regardless the size of the company. "Diesel fuel is heavier and less volatile than gasoline, which makes it simpler to refine from crude oil. As a result, diesel tends to be cheaper than gasoline in most countries around the world", globalpetroprices. Why is it that it is more expensive here? Because no one stands up against it!! Although some will say they are including the fuel surcharge it in their rates, that is hard to believe. At the end of the day, we are all the same! Companies don't care if you speak English, Spanish, or Chinese. All they care about is keeping more money in their pockets! And who better to do it with than professional truck drivers. Don't be fooled, brokers and trucking companies look out for themselves before you. Meaning, there is WAY MORE money in their pockets than there will ever be in yours and they take care of each other rather than you!! I agree...get out if you don't like it but no one can do it from one day to the next.
The Railroad workers banned together to protest because of their wages and working conditions. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible for professional truck drivers to do the same. No one is going to standup for us, we don't even standup for ourselves; we tend to go against each other (proof is in all the forms here)! We are not asking for free money! How many of us are OTR for three weeks to a month before coming home to attend to our family and/or health duties for a short period of time. Before we know it, it's time to head out again because bills need to get paid.
It is not to say to go out and stop traffic on a major freeway. We need to ban together and fight for EACH OTHER! Or else everyone will be forced out as an independent professional. The big companies want all of the work and they want to eliminate us smaller companies. That's to include everyone that cannot compete with major trucking company's fleet. Can there a be a day NO ONE accepts any loads? That would be a powerful statement to the government and those big companies trying to push us out. Everyone will get a quick glimpse of the importance of independent drivers.
Doesn't everything the government is doing seem odd?? Trying to get so many drivers hired in a short period of time, speed limiters, higher fuel costs, and cheaper load rates?? Research it before you respond and post hard facts. That would be the first step in us banning together, slowly but surely! We want to fix the problem, not make more of a mess of it! November is a voting month. Research those running for office that will impact us. We need to make a change and take a stand! -

We've got an idiot in charge that's surrounded by people that don't know how the world actually works and they have forced everyone into this situation.

If folks really want to see an increase in new driver quality then they should encourage cdl schools to be like FVTC, which is heavily subsidized by tax dollars. -
