With no recent expieriance, that is the ONLY reason I suggest Knight. The things these companies like Swift, Werner, and Stevens do to these new drivers is borderline criminal and the pay is almost sadisticly low. They are basically saying "what are you gonna do?" The Squire drivers I talked to seemed pretty upbeat and happy it's just the guys who thought they had a future with Knight I felt sorry for.

Why don't you like sliding scale? my friend who works for Knight for over 2 years now makes .35 a mile but with sliding scale averaged .38 last week alone. I agree you should not be on a perdeim that gives up .02 a mile but what don't you like about sliding scale that pays more for shorter runs?

I wish I had that at May when I worked there. Heck with all the short runs I did I would of liked to have been payed more for shorter runs but all their runs pay the same.

okay, lets say i pull a load out of a terminal. it's only less than 200 miles away from its destination. guess what they ALWAYS tend to do. yes, they put me down for ALL of the mileage as if i was the original driver who picked it up. besides that, i hardly ever get the short hauls. i usually do runs that are 800+ miles....which i don't mind all that much. unfortunately, whenever i'm in the central time zone, i get sent back west in a hurry. believe it or not, i actual enjoy being in the mid-west. right now i'm enjoying it more due to being in another truck that does 68mph. this time around, i'm in a relatively new pete 387.

i'm currently getting loaded for a haul to so-cal. i bet my empty is going to be in question and they'll try getting me to drop it somewhere. i won't!

Well then if most of your loads are over 500 miles then the sliding scale really does not affect you that much.

I am just saying that after looking over the loads my friend gets she is making more at her base rate of .35 then I did at .36 at May trucking because she has the sliding scale at Knight and I did not at May.

Now I talked to a couple of Canada Fleet drivers out of Seattle that almost always get the top end of the sliding scale because their runs are usually under 300 miles. The problem now is that they have some drivers that signed on at .34 and new ones that started at .31 so I would suspect Knight does not mind pissing off the higher paid drivers to replace them with drivers starting at the lower rate.

Knight has also cut over 200 power units so their hiring is to fill existing openings, not as a result of expansion.

it's the principle of the fact that i am not being paid for the short haul. instead they're putting all the added mileage on to me as if i had originally picked it up. that's what irritates the hell out of me.

as for other things, i'd highly recommend staying the hell away from the phoenix yard. they're charging drivers $25 for hoarding empties if they're staying for longer than 10hrs. repeat offenders will be charged even more. if a driver drops a loaded trailer on the asphalt, they will be charged some money. it's a money grab like the statewide scamera installation.

you'll get a paper stating the new policy changes upon entering the yard off of mojave. it's also riddled with punctuation and spelling errors. i can totally see how useful rick martin's college education is/was.

Man, I am glad I was fired from Knight! Sounds like it just keeps getting worse there. I just wish there was some way that the Knight family could be made to suffer the same crap they put me and their drivers though!

Never going to stop there again then. They can piss up a rope if they want to change me for anything. I'll charge them $100 to fuel their rig and put a f'n lien on it and the cargo.

And I mean knightmare! Beginning to end.

I aplogize to all drivers that were hired only to find out you had been lied to. Unfortunately I had been lied to so I thought what I was telling you was true. But even though I'm gone, they will continue to lie to you.
How do you think the knight boys can afford that nice private jet? They screw you! Up...down...left and right. But office workers get screwed too. I am making thousands less than what I agreed to and have spent the entire time trying to get the salary they told me I would get. Forget it, it's not going to happen. Benefits? Oh yea, not getting those either. Somehow someone 'forgot' to start deducting it from my check so, sorry no bene's this month either.
The final straw? I get berated by a dumb ### kid in Phoenix!! Some dumb #### with a title that is younger than my son thinks he knows more than I do after being in the trucking industry for over 30 years.
Hey Pj, go ##### yourself.....instead of those little mormon boys you prefer.
