I'm curious about this and need your help.

I was just issued a 2023 579 with the X15 Cummins. My maintenance director said I can idle anywhere because it's "certified clean idle." Well the only problem is my truck does NOT have any decals stating that. I saw a KLLM 2023 Pete that most likely had the PACCAR engine because it sounded completely different than mine does and it DID have those stickers.

Does anyone know if my truck is CCI but they forgot to put the stickers? I mean I thought all trucks this new were all certified clean idle? But without the stickers they will harass me in Pennsylvania and other no-idle states.

This truck was SUPPOSED to come with an ESPAR heater. The exhaust hose is there, wiring is there, control panel inside the cab is there. The actual heater is not. It's a hole under the bunk with a plate covering it. When issued to me, I told the shop I couldn't get the heater to come on. Well, a few minutes of diagnosing and they decided to look under the truck. Turns out the truck didn't come with one even though they ordered it with one. So if I can't idle, I can't stay. I have no alternate sources of heat other than the big engine.

I don’t know of one person anywhere in a truck that has been hassled, ticketed or even approached by law enforcement for idling, including California. It’s winter, idle your truck.

I was parked at a service plaza in NJ a few years ago. I saw DOT come in through the subdivision behind the plaza, park his vehicle, and walk to the line of trucks and issue tickets to every truck that was idling. I had a diesel GPU at the time so I didn't get one, but I saw at least 5 trucks get tickets and that was in the dead of winter. So I know it happens. Little ####### would put his hand on the hood. If he felt a vibration, he knocked on the driver door with his ticket book open.

When it gets cold enough most will just idle instead of using bunk heater. Better to make sure the engine will start the next day. Ticket is a non moving violation, just a fee, let the company pay it.

Service plaza means you were on a toll road right? They also ticket for too long in the plaza etc. like the other reply stated, even if ticketed it’s non DOT, and it’s winter, idle your truck.

I honestly don't remember. I remember the service plaza but at the time I worked for a company that had EZ pass for tolls so I didn't pay attention. I don't think that road was a toll road, though. I mean there are service plazas around Chicago not on toll roads.

We all stayed overnight at the plaza so that wasn't a thing there.

The decals should be directly below the mirror arms, where they mount to the door.

Oh sir, I'm very aware of where they SHOULD be. I'm just very sure of where they are NOT, and that would be on this truck LOL

Post pandemic. Work ethic sucks. Quality control out the window entirely. Even at Peterbilt.

I would get on your company about this. As far as I have read, The stickers are required. Even though I doubt it would happen, it would suck to get a ticket from a D-bag DOT trying to prove himself.
