Nope....not a chance.

Tell us your closest city & state--and the Forum will help you find a REAL job, instead.
Also--what endorsements (tanker, hazmat, doubles/triples) do you have?

At .93 cpm, you're probably not going to run more than 1000 - 1200 miles per week . So that is roughly $1,100 per week for the miles. Plus, $150 per load , 3 loads a week = $450. Add in your stop pay. And remember - you're going to be driving off the beaten trail, having to maneuver in tight parking lots at all hours of the day or night for the privilege of unloading 1,500 to 2,000 pieces of freight! That job description needs to pay at least $2,500 a week gross! What did the recruiter tell you the average earnings were for the DC that you would be assigned to?tscottme Thanks this.

The money is good on Dollar General accounts, but the risk is high for bumping into something in those parking lots that aren't designed for 18 wheelers. Bump into something 3 times and the company finds out, then you're fired. That goes on your DAC report and makes it difficult to find a new, decent job. If you take the Dollar General job, keep all this in mind at all times to protect your job and income.

Did you check into any of these?

Go to a few DG's in the middle of the day and ask yourself if you want to back a 53' trailer into there.
tscottme, Warrior Pump, Chinatown and 4 others Thank this. -
In addition to the deplorable conditions already outlined here, the store personnel aren’t to helpful. They pay you to roll the freight off the trailer. There might be two people at the store and both of them might need assistance walking. You’ll have a 2000 pound pallet of gallon jugs of laundry detergent loaded on top of a pallet of pastries. There’s no rhyme or reason to the the loading of DG merchandise.
There’s a target dollar amount these carriers that contract with DG will pay per week. Whether that’s a net of $1500-$2000 per week, it’s not enough. -
Sounds good until you hit your third onject and get fired. Then what are you going to do with 3 months experience and a termination?PacoTaco Thanks this.
