When I was doing it, that would have been 4 loads. 8 axle star car licensed to 104,500. Usually less than 90 minutes from LACT to rail or pipeline.
We all knew this was coming...

Because they want to do stupid stuff like replace mirrors with cameras.
No backup, no redundancy.drvrtech77, Jubal Early Times, Crude Truckin' and 2 others Thank this. -
That’s the biggest issue with that system. Somewhere, there’s a control module. That module WILL fail. Then, you’re screwed. Go to a dealer and they don’t stock modules because they’re too expensive to just keep on the shelf. Go to order it and they’re on backorder, because there’s no supply. Now what? It’s not like you’ll be throwing on a set of mirrors. It’s an already hideously expensive system that’s now going to be costing revenue.drvrtech77 and RockinChair Thank this.

They already have in some locations, read an article a few months ago, not just the charging cords were being stolen but the whole charger was. Electric grid can’t keep up with demand now. Park 600 trucks at I 80 truck stop and plug them in. Watch the grid melt downdrvrtech77, Val_Caldera, Coolbreezin and 3 others Thank this.

I’m hauling this thing back to home base in a few hours. The #### thing has no parking brake, it has failed according to the tech that backed it on the trailer. I’m not allowed to even get in the cab. It’s the fourth one I’ve hauled. I was shocked that they don’t have spring brakes in them, there isn’t an air brake system. He had to sit in the cab and hold the brakes while I put the neck back on, and tied it down. They have to be delivered because they only have a few hundred mile range.
RockinChair and Dave1837 Thank this. -
The brakes are like on a Hybrid car, the drive system uses the energy of the rotating wheels to absorb that energy and put a minimal charge back in the batteries. Hard to believe they haven't figured a way to lock it down when it's parked though.welldigger00 Thanks this.

Iowa 80, hell, it's Iowa. Iowa doesn't have that many problems with their power grid. Park both lots of the T/A-Petro in Ontario, CA during a heat wave when their power grid can't keep up as it is...then you have real problems (besides being stuck in Commiefornia)jason6541 Thanks this.
