I figured I ask here instead of Reddit due to the maturely of this crowd. My brother got his CDL C and got picked off doing 76 in a 45. Yes moron. We’re outta NYC so there’s no pleading for less points. It’s win or lose out here. He want to get his CDL A like me, if he is found guilty what should he do for starter company? Any one know any??
I know the MVR is gonna say 15+ over the speed limit and insurance companies are gonna say the hell with him. He’s 35 so I hate to see this man sit out for 3 years. By the way it’s his 1st ticket in 15years of driving. Never got one before.

No ticket before probably won’t help, 31 over is going to pretty much sideline him, unless someone like Western Express, a second chance company, or some 1099, and there the money won’t be there, but the experience will.
Having the CDL, regardless of class, is supposed to make you know better and be held in higher regards.Woodys, austinmike, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -

Here is my advice. The brother WILL LOSE his CDL for 60 days if he gets another 383.51 table 2 violation within 3 years. If he wants to get that C upgraded to an A I recommend finding a tech school that offers CDL training. Then looking for a carrier that self-insures. These carriers have a little more flexibility. This brother is also lucky that the ticket was not upgraded to reckless! If not he needs to stay at his current job for at least 2 more years.Gamechangerzz Thanks this.
