I have seen so many rebuilt Freightliners with unpainted hoods, different painted hoods and other parts cobbled together to make one truck it ain’t even funny.
I’m talking about some real “Frankenstein”jobs too!!

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I really don’t see a dealership stocking the modules/parts for these systems. If they’re $5K on the option sheet, the module is probably $2K, OTC. And, the camera wings are probably $2K each, OTC. Hell. We can’t even buy a T-shirt from dealerships, because they don’t want to invest any money in inventory. Eye candy/point-of-sell grabs are the easiest stuff to sell in a parts showroom.

I'll stick with my regular mirrors .. their easy to troubleshoot any issues.. their proven to work .. and If need be I can buy a replacement for less than a 100.
I just stay out of the big TS to try to preserve them from the tards that don't know how to use them when backing up
I'am not concerned about trying to get that extra .005 mpg fuel economy anyhow

Sometimes the digital dash on my paccar doesn’t turn on. So I end up having to disconnect the batteries to get it to reset. Nothing the dealer can do apparently. Sometimes digital isn’t better.

Making something like trash is what it is.

Many cars have digital dashes now and I don't hear them blacking out.

Rideandrepair, Siinman and ducnut Thank this.

A large percentage of them in our fleet are doing the same. I’m glad to have gauges.

High-end boats with flat panels don’t either.

bzinger, Rideandrepair and Siinman Thank this.

That may be a subject of a recall. My digital dash froze up while driving about 4 months ago. I turned the truck off and back on to reset itself, but not before I drove the truck about 200 miles with the speedometer stuck at 66 mph! FMCSA made PACCAR recall their digital dash trucks(literally twisted PACCAR’s arm to do it).

The screen went blank and he couldn’t see the trailer.
