So I have a couple days of Home Time coming in SC next weekend. Yesterday a get a call from the DM says they have a load for me going to Columbia SC and wanted to know if I wanted it and if that would be enough time to then get back here and back home. (???)
I just roll my eyes at times. Taking a planned 34 on Saturday to attend safety meeting, run a couple errands, etc so I’ll have full clocks for Sunday to Friday when I’m scheduled to be off.
I have no idea what the freight looks like. If they want me to run there now or keep me elsewhere and save this load as my homeward bound load. Just seems odd to me to ask the driver his thoughts on planning the week based on a data point of “one”.
am I missing something? Do other drivers get these kind of questions? I just shake my head. -
####… That could’ve been me. I was on US 35 between Jeffersonville and Chillicothe, and was empty! Got hit by one gust that I thought was gonna tip it over into the median… Glad after Chillicothe, the winds got better all the way back to North Carolina.gntorres61 and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this.

Thanks. The wind was just average ‘Midwest style’ most of the way but every once in a while an extra strong gust would hit ya…. And it hit me when I was going 70 in the fast lane. Definitely had to pull the seat cushion out of the ‘ol ascrack lol
I slowed down and kept 2 hands on the wheel after that… woke me up for sure….runningman0661, MidWest_MacDaddy and dwells40 Thank this. -
Made ya Pucker huh… LOLncmickey Thanks this.

How strict is FCC on OOR miles? For example let's say I'm taking a load from Dallas to Omaha. Usually a driver would take the Kansas Turnpike to Topeka then north on 75. But I would probably take 135 north from Wichita to swing by the house if time and load allows, then 81/80 to Omaha. It's longer but well within the 8% OOR threshold to get that part of the bonus.
MidWest_MacDaddy and BigR Thank this. -
You won't hear a thing if the load is on-time.MidWest_MacDaddy, dwells40, M22 rockcrusher and 2 others Thank this.
