Hi everyone. Feel free to move to correct place if I guessed wrong.

I have an MC and USDOT but I’m retiring from running my own show. I keep seeing the autonomous trucks on the road, and I have concerns about the future of the industry. Im about ready to retire anyway.

Here’s the deal: I have a 1980s W900 (all mechanical) and I’m asking here to see if anyone knows a larger carrier that will take my truck and I. My record is in all ways spotless for over ten years, the issue is always my truck, because no ELD.

Reason for larger carrier is I’d like a chance at drop & hook over pulling a dedicated unit 24/7. Mainly only applies to Van or reefer (which I don’t prefer to pull). Most of my experience is tanker, then reefer, then stepdeck (minimal).

If you know of any, please feel free to recommend carriers. Not opposed to a smaller carrier if the freight is consistent and/or pays well. I have residences in OH and FL, so either midwest or SE companies work (I’ll drive wherever, license is OH).

And yes, I know all the serbian/russian companies out of chicago will happily take me yesterday, and stick me with a dry van at $1/mi….please don’t recommend them. That SuperEgo company comes to mind; I talked to one of their drivers and the FMCSA should nuke them by the sound of how they “do business”. *shrug*

    Thanks very much!

they take any year, passing a DOT, who also can run their ELD. It requires at least a couple sensor inputs from the engine, of which my truck has zero sensors or electronics onboard. See screenshot. :/

You'd think they wouldn't mind drivers without e-logs as it shouldn't make a difference between the book and the computer as they have a business model of running smarter, not harder.

I don’t know about Mercer truck requirements, seen a few older trucks there, but they may have grandfathered the truck age rule if, any.
