Got settled into the hotel here in Fremont. A very nice and clean, if slightly dated, Holiday Inn. The company vehicle i got was a Chrysler van.
Any good suggestions for restaurants in the area? I'm hungry and I try to avoid fast food if possible.
Excited for orientation tomorrow!
Edit: My hotel room is actually pretty nice and updated, it's just the bathroom that feels kind of old.Finfn1372, dwells40, MidWest_MacDaddy and 2 others Thank this. -
Big Red's just West of there is pretty decent. The Chinese at HyVee a little further West is usually pretty good. (Did have some not so good stuff there once a month ago) There is a decent little diner right next to Sapp Brothers at US30 and 77. There are quite a few options not too far from there.

One of my favorite places there is Ninja steak & sushi. If you like that kind of thing, I'd recommend it.dwells40, MidWest_MacDaddy, Bumper and 1 other person Thank this.

Not much. Only two people presenting and both from Safety.
stop doing U Turns… stop at stop signs… minor adjustments or guidance coming to clarify PC.
One big change which was sent out via the training software is the changes coming for passengers. No longer needs to be immediate family members but if you have a friend or significant other riding there is a required insurance policy that needs to be purchased for $23/month or something close to that.
it was a short meeting. Glad I didn’t go too far OOR to attend.

Funny you should say that… had my better half on the truck back in November for like 10 days. Had to scale so I pulled up on the scale and I had to adjust the tandems. So since we were stopped, she opted to run inside. I adjusted and rescaled (without her) and the load was now legal… but now lighter as well.
So she gets back on and since she is thinking about getting her CDL, I show her the scale tickets and how moving the tandems I shifted the weight etc.
Then I said “hhmmm… that’s odd” she bites and inquires “what’s odd” … so I show her how one ticket was a one weight and the other ticket was lighter. I scratch my head adding to the performance and said “I’m not sure why that would be soooo different and off by X pounds”
“oh, YOU got off the truck in between”… LOL
wasn’t my best idea.hotrod1653, Finfn1372, mitrucker and 7 others Thank this. -

Yeah don't make any u turns
runningman0661 and Bumper Thank this. -
I try to do as told and will avoid doing them and only do them to get out of a situation but to be honest, not sure how they are much different than just making a left turn. I mean you are pulling out across lanes and have to manage any on coming traffic but in the end, you still have a truck crossing lanes. And in a good U Turn only crossing two lanes of on coming traffic instead of all four going in both directions.
As long as we have room and do the maneuver safely of course.
seems one of those “issues of the day” things… but maybe someone had an accident recently so it’s a sensitive issue.
but sure, I’ll do as told.
(Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate Safety and what they do to keep us Safe out here and protect FCC from Liability)M22 rockcrusher and Bumper Thank this. -
Yeah wish I could take back the. U-turn but I can't
runningman0661 Thanks this.
