It's quiet, as February usually is. My normal search radius shows about what I expect, actually, a bit better than has been available in the last few years at this time.
If I looked into the depths of the swamp daily, I'd probably be miserable - but I just watch and wait.HoundDog7, larry2903, Another Canadian driver and 11 others Thank this. -
correction: I’m at 42% is kept from invoiced after expenses. That’s what happens when you don’t dispatch service/quick pay/factor, run new equipment, and have direct customers these days.Last edited: Feb 17, 2023

Love this post. It's chicken scratch to me, but I do the same - which means you're paying attention to every step of the move - daily/weekly etc.Another Canadian driver, cke, Rideandrepair and 6 others Thank this.

just noticed I mixed matched the mileage sheet with the load but most of my weeks are in that same range, every once in a while I’ll do 2 turns or head west to cover overflow but not often, did just about 67k miles last yearAnother Canadian driver, cke, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this.

I’ve noticed a drop in volume on the spot market for Reefer loads. I know this is historically the down season, but it’s low. Definitely a shippers market. Just got another lane for my customer. Last minute so to cover both lanes I ended up in DFW. -Not my normal area of work, and have a different plan for the following week. Tried to recover from an already lousy plan and know Intrastate TX is weak. But dang! Called on a meat load from Sherman TX to Temple. $650 to the truck! I am unable to do that, thank you for your time. Click
Look back at loads a few hours later. Welp, it’s been covered.Last edited: Feb 17, 2023

So from the dry bulk world (hopper)....got this offered via email today:
Commodity: meat and bone meal
Mandatory washout ($50-100 and usually a ton of OOR miles to find one that washes hoppers)
Denver, CO to Ft. Smith, AR
24-25 tons
$1800
Plus obligatory washout AFTER load and lie to half the brokers about what your previous was (no one wants to load you after animal protein). I just don't even respond to those ones....Another Canadian driver, Vampire, cke and 5 others Thank this.
