the only camera in my truck is on my Phone. I did buy a camera at Loves with my loves points and its still in the box.
I work for Frito Lay so FYI not all big companies watch your every move.
Every camera company is a bad company.

Maybe some companies are bad companies, but installing a camera in your car or in your home is also about protecting your property.

Driver facing? I don’t know but forward facing cameras have saved my butt and my job. If you don’t drive like a dummy you have nothing to worry about.

Roehl uses them, I am sure its for liability to see if the driver was distracted prior to an event.

Wow... just catching up to this thread, and I gotta say, I don't think I could handle driving a truck with a camera watching my every move... that camera would be the first thing to "malfunction" when I left the yard. [Viking hammer blow to cheesed*ck camera, lol...] And the subsequent phone call to the company: "I dunno, the thing just went kaput!"
I understand the "legal reasons" why companies use such equipment, but what about privacy issues? I mean, for Pete's sake, how do ya pick your nose, check an atlas, eat behind the wheel, use a p*ss jug, etc? Are people PAYING to see this? If I were outfitting trucks for my own company, I could easily go for dash cameras looking forward, those make sense... but the weird voyeuristic use of "driver cameras" would be out. Give a driver some privacy, aye?Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
Heard JB Hunt is adding cameras.

That said, I saw some weird movement on a truck on a Sunday that was supposed to be in the yard. We can see snapshots in certain intervals. I noticed a woman in the passenger seat. I pulled the video and found the driver had picked up a crackhead, was hitting the pipe while driving and worse. One accident with this combination of circumstances is a 1-50 million dollar settlement.
2 years ago, there was a fatal accident where our truck was struck in the side while driving down the freeway. We were struck and hit another car killing the occupant. The driver facing camera view through the driver door window was the saving grace in this situation.
I have 30 stories there the inside camera was used in a responsible manner to protect the company and not to nail the driver. IF you have nothing to hide then you would not care about the camera. You have no idea how many cameras you pass every day that capture what you are doing and that number is rapidly increasing.
So I say to you, it is not their loss to have such an arrogant, pompous driver turn them down. You want to make the rules, you go out and invest $250,000 in a truck and trailer and you can make the rules. And I am not talking about a lease purchase. That is not an O/O.
Good luck to all of you.Lonesome Thanks this.
