Our operating ratio is 98/100. So two cents on every dollar. My local bank has a better return on that.
So I agree. The government has their hands in everything. But to be stupid enough to bail out a company that has a 2% profit margin should tell you everything you need to know about their incompetence.
It's an easy choice when you are spending someone else money.IH9300SBA, bzinger and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
I get that.
Even my company, whose stock I invest in and has had an astronomical return, regularly makes decisions so unsound, financially or efficiency speaking, we drivers say it's no way to run a company.
Then we say "as long as the check clears"Last edited: Apr 15, 2023
bzinger, LtlAnonymous and Chinatown Thank this. -
The only reason these muppets are still in business is because the stupidity of the US government that decided to bail them out.
They are $2 billion in debt. Could you imagine marrying a girl that had that much debt? Not only are you financially unsound but also clearly incompetent.
The main reason why I am leaving is because I am terrified of the stability of the company. That's it. -
About 20 years ago when I worked for YRC it was the same, but it's still there with great benefits. Drivers were quitting because the "doors are closing in a few days."
One driver quit 3 times and laughed at the rest of us for staying. He tried to come back after the 3rd time quitting, but was refused.
The reason I left was to pull hazmat tankers running 48 states & Canada.Last edited: Apr 15, 2023

It's terrible. I don't know how operations are ran in other terminals, but here in Atlanta you're going to be miserable if you're new and running extra board. At minimum you'll have to wait 1-2 hours for dispatch to even get your load ready. Dock workers are lazy as #### and will take their sweet time hooking up sets. For the past month I've been waiting 3-5 days just to get a load call. My paychecks are actually below minimum wage currently. Union is a double edged sword. It basically allows employees to run the company and #### over everyone. We've had 6 new drivers quit in this month already.
If you're just here to get experience it's probably fine, but I wouldn't plan on staying here long term. -
Well, if my show up time is 6, that means I go on duty at 6, correct?
bzinger Thanks this. -
If I was the OP, most likely I would hop on that wagon. As others have said, Yellow has been going out of business for a long time but yet......here they are. I can't say about the hireabilty of someone that "has" worked for the union, I don't think it's been an issue for me but don't know for sure. You will be low man for xx but any LTL place you go to you will be low man. Different shops work differently so the one 400 miles across the state might have better working conditions than the cesspool where someone is currently at.

It does at our place.
We can wait on equipment or other delays but the clock starts, and so you're being paid but makes the day longer.bzinger, LtlAnonymous and Opus Thank this. -
I haven't been there in many years, but I'd have said the same thing in 2009 when I left.bzinger Thanks this.
