Yeah. They did me dirty too. I had some issues with my sleep apnea numbers. Doc sent me home for 2 weeks and if I had 95-100%, he’d get me back on the road. I did so. They sent me to doc closer to my house. When I got there, the appointment was canceled as this new doc had already spoken with Roehl and said I’d have to do 3 months. But neither doc nor Roehl called me to inform me of this until I showed up at canceled appointment.
Roehl said no problem. Call in 3 weeks and we’ll get new you new appointment and back on the road. 2 weeks after this, I’m still doing great… Roehl calls and said “Yeah, we changed our mind. You’re terminated and owe us for your GYCDL.”
No the F I don’t. I was doing everything in my power to bust my ### off for them. And they threw me away for a few grand. If they want, hire me back and let me finish my miles for them. But I’m not busting ### somewhere else for them to steal my money.
And you and I aren’t the only ones. I know 5 others they did this to. I think one had less than 25-20,000 miles left. They short changed me miles too, I know I drove more than 17,000 miles. And the real kicker… it’s either all 120,000 miles or 100% of training. No prorations. Meaning even if you did 50% of 120K (60K), they’ll still have you pay 100% of training.
I bet we could find enough Ex-Roehl employees to find a pattern of work abuse like this. And I don’t mean the rotten eggs that needed to be fired. I mean the good one working their ###es off, doing the pre-trip & post-trips EVERY TIME, documenting EVERY trailer, and following every BS safety policy they put out that was too far above and beyond Federal safety standards…
The only things I’d accept from Roehl: 1) erase the debt as I’m sure they’ve already written it off (most debts are supposed to be written off at end of each year), or 2) hire me back at decent rate, treat me fairly with no retaliations (like this #### never happened), let me permanently drive my old manual truck if they still have it (or another manual if my old one is gone), and call it square after I get 100K miles.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 8, 2024

If you suffer from sleep apnea check out the link below. I have been using this for years and it really helped me out and I've also shared it with other people I know to include a fellow Roehl driver who had serious issues with sleep apnea

I went through the same thing back in September of 2019, I've pretty much posted my entire story here on TTR if you're interested in Reading. But to make long story short I was terminated because I took too long to complete Phase 2 of gycdl. Received a $7,000 bill from them 3 weeks later which increased by $1,100 2 weeks after receiving the bill. I have not and never will pay this bill unless I'm ordered to do so by a court.
I went to jrayl in November of 2019 and I've been with them ever since thenBlagoje Thanks this. -
Fun fact: A court can not make you pay a judgement. The ONLY entity that can enforce it is the IRS. I owned a print shop for 9 years and have judgements against a lot of people and never collected a dime of it.
Ask the people that sued OJ how much they got from him... -
Well, the more you learn I suppose.. I haven't been to a real court before... family court for an IPO hearing is the closest I have to real court experiance so far in my life.
All I really know is that Rohel did not even try to make a reasonable accommodation... like moving me to refer or dry van since I could clearly drive and was doing everything I could to meet expectations... no they instead dropped me like hot garbage the second I didn't fit into their 28 day mold, and they want to charge me for their decision to drop me... for that reason they will not be getting a red cent from me ever. It should also be said that I was at the Gary, indiana terminal when they pulled the plug on my training, so I was left to fend for myself as far as getting home goes.Last edited: Jul 16, 2024
Blagoje Thanks this. -
What upset me was that I was very close to completing my 120,000 mile contract requirement only to have Roehl pull the rug out from under me.
Now I really only advise people to use Roehl as a starter company if they already have their CDL A before signing up. Roehl only requires 40,000 miles under that condition. -
I have heard of this happening as well even back in 2019... that is drivers being fired before they could complete their contract with no prorate, I heard that they used to prorate contracts about a decade ago but they certainly do not anymore at least not as of 2019Last edited: Jul 16, 2024
