Had a pretty bad experience with this company. T & H Trucking Milroy, IN. DOT# 3049356. Owner is Toby Loudenback.

Was brought in to drive a 2007 9900ix and a flatbed. Owner claimed the truck had a rebuilt engine and transmission, and was in good shape. All of that was straight BS. Engine idled roughly, and the clutch brake was gone. Shifted a little rough. Suspension was a mess, rusted shocks and bad air bags. Mismatched tires. Most of the flatbed tarps were ripped, and he didn't seem to know. He gave me federal inspection stickers and paperwork for the truck and trailer, completed and signed by himself. I never saw him do any sort of inspection, and I don't think he was qualified to do federal inspections anyway. So they were almost certainly bogus. The interior of the truck had obvious rodent activity, mouse poo and sunflower seeds spread everywhere. A vent cover was missing on the back sleeper wall, so the rodents had free access to the interior. There was also a bird's nest on the sleeper fairing. Later discovered this truck sat on a pig farm for months. I have multiple photos of the truck to back this up.

Even with all that, I spent a week doing everything I could to help get the truck ready. And it was still no where near ready to haul loads. So I told him I was going home. He said he would pay me for the time I spent working on the truck . He sent me a very small, insulting amount. And he won't respond to any communication. So I told him I'm going to go to work spreading the word.

Later discovered he had his authority revoked in 2018 for a short period. His company has 3 DOT inspections showing, and none of them are clean. That part I knew in advance, but I decided to take a chance. It was obvious early on this guy ran his company half aced. It wasn't something I was going to risk being a part of.

I guess I don't have to ask how that strategy of only looking for a small company is working out for you...

No guarantees with big fleets either. They can be just as dirty as small companies. Trucking is a dirty business. It is what it is. And I definitely have no desire to get stuck in the cheap fleet trucks you seem to drive. So stick your dumb comments, troll.

My apologies... I didn't realize a $200K Freightliner was a cheap fleet truck compared to a 2007 13-letter spreader that can be found on Marketplace for $11k.

Your entire post outlines the many deficiencies this company had, you were aware of most of them before you actually moved the truck with a load, then wisely declined that opportunity.

If you think there is little difference between the condition of equipment between a fleet that contains 10,000 or more tractors all on a 4 year trade cycle vs this type of small operator running 17 year old tractors you may have a difficult time finding a good fit in this industry.

Knowingly walk into fire and don't expect to get burned?
Sometimes a drivers past makes working for a legit owner impossible.

I really hate half fast companies, and half fast owners that try to sell them as being top notch.

The large fleets have a lot of shortcomings, but their equipment isn't usually one of them. That said, there are small outfits that are good to drive for, and that take care of their equipment. I drive for one. Just keep your eyes and ears open because they're not usually advertised. But, there's no need to settle for some rodent infested, junk heap.

I suspect the OP doesn't qualify to drive for a higher quality small fleet that actually does a backround check nor does he want to put up with the operational quirks of a mega fleet. That is why i suggested he may not be a good fit for this industry.

If a 2007 IHC gets the juices flowing then my 1974 COE Diamond Reo would make people swoon.:biggrin_25521:
