I imagine a bunch of drivers are jumping ship. If the lawsuit and healthcare/pension cuts weren't a big of enough red flag, the lack of work definitely should be. Linehaul drivers here on the extra board have only been working 2-3 days a WEEK for the past 2 months. Drivers with high seniority bids are probably running fine but everyone else is getting ####ed.

As well they should be.

Personally -- I wouldn't wait until the boat completely sinks before looking for a life raft (or another boat) somewhere else.

Their is still enough time to fix this.
Why does Yellow refuse to merge the company's under their current contract. Then go about sitting down with the IBT to figure out the rest of their changes.
Either way their will be a big job loss from the overlapping of companies they merge.bzinger, Gearjammin' Penguin and jmz Thank this. -
That won't solve the underlying financial issues - too much debt taken on when interest rates were low now has to be refinanced at more than double the interest. The debt service was barely manageable before, now it isn't close.ducnut, bzinger, Gearjammin' Penguin and 4 others Thank this.

Defaulted on their 50 million payment to the pension. Strike notice has been served.
Gearjammin' Penguin, road_runner and cdavis188 Thank this. -
well the teamsters have nailed the coffin shut.
Yellow will close up during this strike.
even though we all knew Yellow was going under, you can thank the teamsters for making it happen quicker.
i cannot "see" those last paychecks going out, and i'll bet that Yellow stopped all payments to everything else now too.viper822004, ducnut and cdavis188 Thank this. -
I am willing to bet that those are either autogenerated ads or Yellow paid off a third party contractor to make these during better times.
I am positive the majority of the "talent scout team" of the HR department is laid off or no longer employed. There is no way that people are contacting job seekers that are responding to these ads. Even if they got the job, the terminal would be shut down before they had a chance to finish our computer based orientation.
54 hours from now I will be clocking out for the last time. There is no way around it, no matter how bad I want to be here or need the pay and insurance. Hell, my coworker is scheduled to have throat surgery next week. At least I am leaving with my families health intact. -
Best wishes @road_runner. Tell your friend the $425 he'll spend on insurance will be the best money he ever spent.
That said, $425 ain't easy to come by when you don't have a job.
Bless you all........hammer down. -
It's $425 for last month. It's around $510 for July. Either way though, he is probably going to pay that out of pocket given the alternative if he doesn't.
I have some stuff lined up but haven't gotten a phone call back yet. Gonna keep looking. As long as I get paid this and next week, I'll be ok. Thanks for the well wishes.
