Shop steward is useless. He's encouraged people to.quit in the past when they were in a bind because he didn't want to do the paperwork. Maybe it's for the better that we are going under.
Word now has it that they managed a new contract but the lenders got cold feet and withdrew. Large portions of pickups got canceled for today.
Things are going exactly how I thought they would go.

cannot see any lender being ok with the situation. If they did not come to a closing point like it had then I could see a deal going through. Yellow and Teamsters had to know this would happen if they waited until the last minute to make something happen. No way they are gonna be able to keep the same clients at this point.Gearjammin' Penguin, ducnut, JoeyJunk and 1 other person Thank this.

It's not going to happen...and I want this to happen because I want my job back.
But the reality is we are $1.4 billion in debt with large portions of that loan maturing next year. Then our freight is down 90% in some areas. How many different types of drugs would you have to do over what period of time to think YELL is a good investment? Like yeah dude... This is one ride I want to hitch my wagon on to. Yellow's going places (unemployment office is one of them for me).
Gonna find work elsewhere and save up enough to buy a food truck. I am ready to get off of this merry go around.Still undecided, Siinman, plynnjr92 and 8 others Thank this. -

southeastern was a good company 25 years ago. I don’t know about today, but you are in the same town as their corporate offices. May be worth a visit. Non union shop though.Siinman, Opus, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Appreciated. They will not hire union. Even though I have nothing but contempt for them getting us to this point.Siinman, MACK E-6, hope not dumb twucker and 3 others Thank this.

I was afraid that was going to be the case.Siinman, MACK E-6, hope not dumb twucker and 1 other person Thank this.

And so it continues.
The screenshots might be too small to read but it is basically a generic layoff letter that we get. I posted it last Friday.

@road_runner hate to see this play out this way for you and your coworkers. I can't imagine the emotional toll it must be taking on you.
That said, I would imagine if I were in that situation, I think I'd have the urge to find Sean O'Brian or whatever his name is and kick him in the nads. From a thousand yard view, it appears this could've been avoided, but he chose to stonewall the whole thing, dragging everyone to play a big game of chicken. Union vs. management. And it appears the Union blinked at the last second. Perhaps a second too late.48Packard, RussianBearTruckeR, Siinman and 2 others Thank this. -
