You know what
You’re right, a friend of mine said to me very similar to what you just said
He said if I’m on 1099 then I shouldn’t be treated like an employee who has to be working the war I did which was 3-4 weeks then few days off and I have to work when I was told and I should have been on W2ducnut Thanks this. -
Definitely go to your local unemployment office and inquire. It’s a few hours of your day that could result in you getting a pretty decent sized check. Plus, if they send a paperwork inquiry to the 1099 company and that looks botched up, the company will get a closer look by the feds for what they’re doing. These 1099 companies need stopped.
From everything I’ve read, Marten takes care of their drivers. If I lived closer to their one yard I regularly drive by, I’d be driving for them. I’d definitely look real close at the Ashley P>P opportunity, because that’ll be D&H at each of their DC’s. I’m sure, there will be some LTL requirements, because their furniture needs to get to the stores, when things aren’t going to plan. And, I’m sure you’ll be doing supplier pickups. They have really nice looking equipment, too. If they have a Vegas DC, drive down there and talk to them. Pride would be my 3rd choice. Forget the others.drvrtech77, tscottme and Magoo1968 Thank this. -
My main concern is getting a job
Thanks for your time
And I agree
Although Ashley doesn’t have a Vegas DC
But they do have a drop yardducnut Thanks this. -
Still far better than any regular OTR company.ducnut Thanks this.

Depends. That is why they call it MIS-classification. Does not matter how they pay you or what they call you (1099 contractor). It is the underlying relationship between the worker and the company. Whose tools or equipment are used? Does the individual purchase their own workers' comp or liability insurance? Do they have Control such as directing you where to pick up or drop off a load? Does the worker employ others, advertise, have a place of business......? I had a written contract that I was 1099 signed by both sides and the company still lost the unemployment case due to the underlying relationship. And got audited by the state and had to pay taxes and penalties.Sirscrapntruckalot, ducnut and tscottme Thank this.

Did ya try Poly Trucking? They have a plant in Henderson. They pay well. Trucks can be spotty, but as long as you’re willing to hop in a loaner from time to time…

I applied with Poly but heard nothing back
