I was not aware that to be a driving instructor you only had to have 2 years experience. I would up that number if I was setting the standards. Something more along the lines of at least 5 to 8 years experience. Do you guys feel 2 years is enough experience to be an instructor?

They’ll get any exemptions they want.
Big companies usually do, the ones going in as owner ops petitioning for anything, get denied.

I looked at Heartland a couple months ago. They told me Since I hadn’t driven class A OTR in 4 years and my 400,000 miles in a class B rollback “doesn’t count as CDL miles” I’d have to go through their training program.

I’m sorry $70 a day for up to 4 weeks while doing desk/in yard training and $100 a day for up to 90 days (15000 miles) while with a trainer doesn’t pay the bills.

And yes, they told me 15,000 miles would take 90 days. You literally only do 200 mile loads. And most of the trainers don’t work weekends.

Ha! I'd probably be in the same situation! Been running local class A the last 13 years, of which I've racked up somewhere around 800,00 miles. Did another 350k OTR before that. But I guess since I'm only a local driver, I'd have to go in their 'training' program.

    What a joke.

Yes, Jamie was one of the few bright spots of the whole experience.
