Have you watched YouTube lately. Owning a truck and making videos is were it’s at. YouTube has made truck driving cool again. But no one is cooler that a YouTube Owner Operator superstar
Bean Jr., rollin coal, Crude Truckin' and 3 others Thank this. -
Well you seem to ignore the fact that you need experience, which takes 4 to 5 years.
Sure you can be the super trucker and get into your own truck right out of the poop shute but then you have issues with insurance and God help you if you get into a situation where you end up having an accident.
Any company that leases newbies is asking for trouble and the only ones seem to be the one that screws the owner the most.
Where?
They ain't getting the miles but they don't have the overhead.
On the other hand, those drivers who are working to work less and make more money seem to be doing well. The know the same truth, we have too many drivers trying to make the big bucks.
How?
Do you know how this all works?
We have steering wheel holder owners that barely keep their heads above water, just like armchair owners who have never been in a truck because of this attitude to keep as much money in your pocket, it isn't in your pocket until you get your share. -
yep, every morning I get an email from one of my former drivers who does video editing and post-production work for a large number of these YouTube stupid stars. This is his business now and he sends me links to all kinds of crap on YouTube.
I see how well these guys are doing on the road, the big bucks they are making, the fancy cars they drive with the bling they wear. Crap, it makes me want to go get video equipment, mount 10 cameras in a truck, and hit the road.Bean Jr., Crude Truckin' and tscottme Thank this. -
The fleet owner has a bunch of headaches. -
Ziploc......
Schneider veteran here.
Latest gig: hauling fuel (but NOT with Schneider); home daily.
Ridgeline knows his stuff (although his last post above was pretty funny
). Listen to the voices of experience.
Hint: they don't nickname it "fleece floperator"....for nothing.
Learn how to REAL-LY drive a big rig first...make sure trucking is in fact where you want to stay, long-term. Meanwhile -- learn the biz (as suggested above).
Knowledge is power.
Also -- if you later become a really good driver, with a spotless safety record -- the success will actually take care of itself.
-- LBean Jr., Crude Truckin' and ZiplocW2019 Thank this. -
