The $75,000 and $102,000 are real numbers and our average driver gets 132,000 miles per year. The average driver also misses out on at least 2 cpm worth of mileage bonuses each quarter too. For reference, 1/4 of the fleet gets at least 36,000 miles per quarter (144,000 per year which is what I was doing).

Yes, I know without a doubt after door knocking and speaking with people that Holland pays better and has the miles. Just spoke with a young man who left Great Planes and showed me the pay stub differences. $1400 in 2 weeks on salary at Great Planes and $3000 at Holland in two weeks..... Pay stubs do not lie... I'm currently talking to GPT and the recruiter has yet to mention anything about an escrow. Talked to him 3 times now. Was told, 3weeks out, $1400 a week, salary, inside and outside facing cameras. Not feeling so chummy about this place after reading this thread.

Ask them. Dont let them get away with not answering either. They have a tendency to not give answers right away with “we’ll get back to you” and never do.

I love most everything about GPT except this practice and some communication preferences which they seem to be working on. The hiring salary in 2023 is $1400 per week, as stated in this thread minus the $75 per week ($300) per month of my earnings toward this $1000 hold is satisfied.
As stated also I agree it is not a 3rd party trust account typical of a real estate escrow, but rather a hold. I declined and opted out on the form but was told it's what they do, in orientation and indeed, its being deducted from my pay. I continue to ask for clarity and details about exactly what its for because it's unclear.
Federal and North Dakota Labor laws state Employers must pay employees all of thier earned income except taxes, garnishment etc. Or, if any tools, uniforms, etc needed for the job are provided as a fee based deduction, as is fairly commonly known.

The general idea about this held amount is intended as a buffer or added insurance to be collected "just in case" a cost arises from a separation with an employee... some examples being an abandoned truck, cleaning cost, reseating possibly, unsettled advances or pay discrepancy issues... quitting after paid days at home, for another example.
But it was mentioned in orientation the money could be used by the employee upon request for anything basically, also mentioned was that it could be helpful to have available for people whose state taxes are not witheld, (like mine of SC) to help pay them at tax time. That sounds pretty good, but right now, my family is in crisis and I want to use that money to get through a rough spot financially.
Im asking for clarity in writing and to find out if I can use it and then afterward rebuild it for any of the other proposed uses. I will update this when I find out. I really love this company for so many reasons and want to keep my job. The CEO recently stated that his goal was for complete transparency. So, that's all Im asking for in regards to this particular payroll deduction.

    TB John Thanks this.

Wouldn't you have been better off with that money in your high-yield savings account giving you a 4.5% APY? What's to love about a company making money on your earnings instead of you making money on said earnings?

I can tell you that Great Plains Transport does not charge escrow. I spoke with Joe in recruiting, and he told me that they do not charge escrow. Be sure to ask him when you call.
