I never noticed freightliner steps higher, the t660 KW i have is a very high step, one whole leg length from cab to first step, best be on your toes or you’ll miss that one.

Report it when it happens.
Make sure the report gets to the person responsible.
Delayed reporting can cause problems with a claim; I had experience with a dispatcher [one of the owners] would wait to pass it along until the driver was booked off on Monday 'cause he couldn't get out of bed.
He got treated but there was a real delay.
Soft tissue injuries will get the right professional giving some of the above advise.
Smaller [family owned] places may reinburse that visit to urgent care; your mileage may vary.Last edited: Aug 10, 2023
ZVar Thanks this. -
take 2 aspirins and post again tomorrow.
a sprain ain't gonna get your leg amputated.
and i too drove so many different brands of trucks, it's relatively "easy" to get used to climbing in and out of any one of them.
if you go to some sort of clinic, you might get a few days off, most likely with out pay..then the company WILL NOT take you back with out that doctors release.
there is no light duty in trucking.
you got hired to truck, you will truck.
buck up, you'll live to see another day. -
I've been home remedy for two weeks now, ain't going away, unfortunately it got to the hire ups and they sending me home to deal with it. Fine but I don't know where doctor money gonna come from so guess will see where this ends upbuddyd157 Thanks this.

you don't have any medical insurance with your company..???
there are "free clinics", but of course, you'll most likely have to sit and wait for like 34 days before a doctor or nurse will see you.
some things to "ponder"
1) if you file a workmans comp claim, sure you'll get medical attention. but i personally know of a relative of mine that did that..??
and got fired when she went back to work......they down right told her she is "damaged goods, and most likely will get hurt again"........
2) if you file a workman's comp claim..??
seek an experience comp lawyer, their fee is free, until you sue the company for a settlement, otherwise, YOU WILL PAY for his/her services, and here, hourly rates are like $500 per hour. no lawyer is going to bill you for less than about 10 hours = $5,000
3) and that's the near to the bottom line, seek an experienced lawyer, get well, but will your employer take you back? or fire you in short time?
a settlement for your claim..?? dollar values are subjectable, and you MUST sign resignation papers.
then, try to find another job, after you been on comp, and sued........think another company is going to take a chance on you...???? -
If you were hurt on the job, the medical costs are on the company or their W/C carrier.
-
and they can't legally fire you for filing a claim.
-
No, but I've seen a company fire a guy when he was cleared to go back to work. Their reason was that they said he had violated some obscure safety rule that caused him to get hurt. He even sued them for wrongful termination. And lost.Numb Thanks this.

agreed, if you get hurt doing something stupid or unsafe you've no protection
