I use the day I start my vacation. Only that day, and a minute amount. Also, I cleanse afterwards and test at home before I return to work. I micro dose ketamine regularly and sometimes psilocybin. I’m a member of MENSA, and the last IQ test I took, I scored a 129.
I’ve been driving for over 20 years and been doing this from day one. I know my limits, I know the risks, I exercise self control and I’m fully prepared to accept the consequences if I have to. I do not use while on duty, never have and never will. Also, I don’t drink alcohol at all. I personally believe that it is more of an issue of accountability and self discipline than anything else when it comes to most any illicit substances. I’m a firm believer that adults should be able to put into their bodies what they want to, but they need to be cognizant of the risks involved, and need to act like adults when they’re indulging, not like a bunch of teenagers getting drunk for the first time.
I’m sure I’ll get blasted for some of this statement, but this is my opinion, and you know what people say about those.

You're having fun butchering chemistry so provide a link showing trace metabolites in the blood at that level impair judgement, perception, reaction, etc...

Couper and Logan authored a fact sheet in 2014 for the NHTSA which is a better starting point for determining impairment rather than your guideline which if used for other compounds would create a world of chaos.

I give credit for the fun rebuttal while it lasted but don't think it's a legitimate argument when scrutinized.

It's in another thread. You're welcome to sift through my post history if you'd like to find it, I think it's about two or three months back.

Don't you have anything that was authored more recently than almost a decade ago? Aw WTH, let's see a link.

1.You don't have a link showing trace metabolites in the blood released from fat cells cause impairment for many reasons such as it's not a 1:1 ratio between what's present in the blood and the uptake of receptors in the brain...

    2. Please enlighten us on the ground breaking developments in this aspect of chemistry over the last decade that somehow renders all previous research as obsolete.

    3. I cited my source in a way with enough information for it to be on par with a link if you want to fact check me, other than that your just nitpicking...

[Flashback following use of cannabis--a review] - PubMed

Link above mentions THC related flashbacks & flashbacks after use of psychoactives & THC.

My comment didn't mention flashback, as I recall, but did mention fat-soluble THC re-entering the bloodstream. Setting the bar at re-intoxication isn't the relevant measure when discussing FMCSA regs as failing the drug screen is the issue. While drug users may want to inject that any condition less than intoxication is no big deal. None of this discussion is about anyone's opinion unless you set the rules.

You know you will be tested. If you use, or if you use and then pay a psychic or witchdoctor to give you a potion to pass the test, it's not smart. You risk ending a career over some few hours of intoxication. That sounds like a drug problem to me.

If you want to pivot away from your false trace metabolite impairment claim I respect your decision.

And moving on to your larger point about rule setting. The current and imminent path of rules will theoretically allow for most most people who use the drug on vacation or the beginning of a 34hour reset to avoid being punished depending on their employer while people who use in a frequency more akin to addiction will continue to be discovered and punished.

The basis for my view is that the detection window for infrequent use in oral fluid testing is about 6 to 30 hours.

June 1st DOT rules are set to allow companies to elect oral fluid or urine tests for random screens pending certification of 2 labs to process oral fluid samples.

Trial by fire time seems to be approaching

The abstract on the page you link seems to discredit the idea of THC flashbacks pretty well. The newest study there is over 20 years old and the abstract points out that the five studies are pretty deeply flawed to the point that the term flashback is not even defined properly

All that being said, I dont thing smoking pot is a good idea for most people

I never stated I believe the trace THC readmitted to the bloodstream would cause impairment so I'm not backing away from the statement. Maybe you can post my quote. Others may or may not have made any such claim. You don't fail a drug test because of impairment, but because you have THC detected. I don't see any reason to anticipate the change in the rules as failing the old rules 1 day before the new rules is still failing the test. Nobody's opinion about where you would draw the limit is any more important than my opinion. The regulations matter on the topic, and only the regulations when discussing it. Will the FMCSA or DOT reinstate someone failing a drug test if every truck drivers asks nicely? One thing I have noticed is that EVERY weed advocate makes the same arguments regardless of what point is under discussion. It's illegal, it doesn't matter if alcohol, or any other substance is legal or illegal. It doesn't matter if intoxication by any other drug is better or worse than with weed. It doesn't matter how many hours or days THC is detectable compared to any other substance. It doesn't matter if every truck drivers WANTS to use weed or not. It doesn't matter what method or pattern of use they proclaim as best or not. Until the regs allow its use all that matters is it's prohibited, you will be tested, and failing a test puts you out of service a a long time. That's why I keep making the point about it being an IQ test. Volunteer for any way you like to through away a good paying job, it's your job and your money. I never met a dope user that got smarter after using it. I've never noticed the society having too many smart people in it.
