Plausible. Most of the Yellow barns are smaller crap holes than what Estes runs out of. If you think our equipment looks bad, you should see our buildings. If you ever stepped foot into our "terminals" I hope to God your shot records were up to date before taking a crap into one of our restrooms. Absolutely deplorable and disgusting. I wouldn't let my dogs use these facilities.
The best thing you can do with these buildings is to lease them out to the United States Air Force as precision guided missile target practice. Make the tax payers do all the work to level their infrastructure. Then resell what is left of it.
It's unbelievable what I put up with for so many years.

What about a state that has no income tax? Does it still hold true? How do you do the math where do the tax numbers to plug into your formula come from?JoeyJunk and gentleroger Thank this. -
I remember hearing through the grapevine that Estes had been renting terminals to yellow or something like that from drivers. Is that true?LtlAnonymous and JoeyJunk Thank this.

@rollin coal
@road_runner
State taxes are negligible vs fed taxes...but yes if no state tax you’ll not loose as much
Easiest way to show it is....work a 40 hr week
A 50-55 week
And a 70 and look at the net differencesJoeyJunk and rollin coal Thank this. -
Regardless of the state tax, a person will ALWAYS net more if they earn more. The total effective tax rate may go up, but if a person works more, they will take home more.
For the weekly numbers I used Salary Paycheck Calculator – Calculate Net Income | ADP
For the annual I used Federal Income Tax Calculator (2022-2023)
For both I used CA as the state. The difference in the net/hr is due to SmartAsset not calculating the state disability tax.
Looking at weekly for WI:

This is the exact argument I want to push against. Because you are citing federal tax laws along with some esoteric local tax laws
I work 40 hours and bring home $1200. I work 60 and now bring home $1400. Then. 70ish and it's now $1500. Let me ask you somethings. How can you work almost twice as many standard hours and only earn half extra when getting paid OT?
What kind of financial ####ery is going on? This whole thing is a scam. -
Your pay check with all the OT and much higher taxes taken out is assuming you will make that much 52 weeks of the year. The US tax system is progressive and you only pay income tax for the income you earn in each bracket. Some people are miss informed and believe if they make one dollar too much their whole income is taxed on the higher rate. It may look like it on the check with all the OT, but when your taxes are figured at the end of the tax year it works itself out correctly.Last edited: Aug 19, 2023
