Tried to stretch fuel to the next fuel solution. Conked out 25 miles away. At least I know this trucks gas gauge tolerance now, which is pretty much none. My Freightliner I could run the gauge to empty and still drive another few hours no problem. This truck ticked to E and I was on the side of the road within 10 minutes.

Screw a fuel solution, I’d be ###### if I’m going to try and get to the next preferred spot and end up stuck on the side of the road somewhere. If I needed to splash 50 gallons, I’m splashing 50 gallons. Any fuel savings just went out the window with a road call.Chicken wang, gntorres61, Speed_Drums and 9 others Thank this.

Fuel solution must have been spaced far apart. I've had some that I was thinking man I don't know if I can make it. If I have any doubts I stop and a splash.bzinger, cdavis188, Woobie and 1 other person Thank this.

When I was at Magnum, I seem to recall running the tanks down to E with the low fuel light blazing away and only taking 160ish gallons to fill. I always thought it a bit funny considering the label on the tanks claimed 120 gallons each. Methinks Paccar's fuel sender calibration standards are somewhat lax.rokue, cdavis188, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this.

Had one of those days today. Spent an hour at the HD in Joliet going back and forth between three drop yards looking for an empty. Finally got one and ran over to West Chicago to pick up a preloaded trailer. I had 15 minutes of breathing room with my clock to get over to the shipper. Of course it’s the greater Chicago area and two trucks got together on I55, which put in me violation by 17 minutes. I was in no man’s land, so I’ll just take the write up and deal with safety when the time comes.

You were just about in my neck of the woods.bzinger, runningman0661 and M22 rockcrusher Thank this.

Word of advice from one old hand. Never run your tanks below a quarter.
