Legal-smegal. When I pulled chickens, our 5 axle vehicles(daycabs) would regularly weigh 100k+, until one rookie DOT cop decided to risk his equipment getting pooped on and weighed one. Then we had to run legal...for a while, until they stopped checking.
And the feed truck drivers were paid by the ton delivered. It wasn't uncommon for those 5 axle feed trucks to be well into the 100k's. -
Same with rock haulers.. paid by the ton back when I did it, and no way to axle out even if ya wanted to. That's when I first learned the art of dodging scales ( later perfected with Foodservice!) Then there's the road construction jobs, hourly picking up concrete from interstate demos.
