There’s no way to answer that. I-14 is a 25 mile long stretch of highway in Central Texas.

 

You mean Highway 14? Like out of Lovell or Greybull? If so, you're better off going south to Thermopolis or north to Laurel

 

I took 14a to 14 out of Lovell headed to Sheridan last Saturday with a load of hay.

10% grade for 13 miles climbing up to the top of the mountain, then dropping down into the valley before Sheridan was 9% for 12 miles IIRC.

 

And lots of curves with no guardrail on that last stretch before Dayton and Ranchester.

 

Guard rails aren’t a concern for a loaded truck on steep grades . They may even give a false sense of confidence to the driver ..

 

I don't understand what you mean by that. Wolf Creek Pass is a little less scary now that there are guardrails, for example. If you're driving a truck on a road like that stretch of US 14 without a sense of imminent danger that increases your desire to exercise reasonable caution, you're a fool. Adding guardrails wouldn't reduce that sensation.

 

I think the more dangerous road is in Colorado.

Think ice road truckers. I don't remember what country they were in. But that road in Colorado has some hairy stretches. Wouldn't want to take a 53 on it.

 

I take all roads at appropriate speed most don’t . However if they are a bit scared because they don’t have guardrail’s and slow down isn’t that better for everyone? I run a lot of the Canadian Rockies and find that way too many truckers cut the corners and force oncoming to the shoulder so they can speed.. but if road looks scary they run slower. I may be wrong but that’s my observation.
